For all of its existence, mankind has invented just a huge number of very different ways of protecting the roofs. Once for this purpose used straw, reed, clay, and sometimes even birch and turf. Essential elements

Also, the structure of the roof may include additional accessories that allow prolonging its service life, ensuring the safety of residents and facilitating the care of roofing material. To such it is possible to carry:

• Cornice and end plates . The first is necessary to protect the lower curb from decay. The end strips perform the same function, but for a part of the outer rafter. Using both elements, among other things, allows you to enhance the decorative quality of the roof.
• Rainwater system. Usually includes a drain chute and a drain pipe.
• Snow holders. These elements of roof security for humans are used to prevent the descent from the roof of snow avalanches in the winter.
• False pipes. They are used to decorate the chimney.
• Elements of ventilation. They are necessary to ensure the exit of the air saturated with vapors from the attic and roof cake.
• Small ridge elements, mounted on the edges of the roof slopes.
• Holders of lightning conductors. Usually fastened to the ridge element.

Protective elements

Required for use are also considered elements of roofing, such as:

• Hydro and vapor barrier films. The first is used to prevent water from entering the roofing cake from the outside, the second from inside, that is, from the attic or attic side. For vapor barrier and waterproofing, polyethylene film, roofing material or special membranes can be used.
• In the soft roof special lining carpets are additionally applied. They are made of a material that does not allow moisture.
• Approximately the same function is carried out and other elements of the roof safety (from getting wet) - endovye carpets.
• Thermal insulation materials. Improve the performance of roofs. Usually used when the construction of a residential attic is planned. As insulation materials, mineral wool or polystyrene foam is most often used. Sometimes the roof is also insulated with polyurethane foam.

In the first case, the skate is usually made of tin and has a rather beautiful appearance. In a soft or roofing roof it is usually made of the same materials. Metal ridge elements can have different shapes - triangular, semi-circular, rectangular.

The ridge element of a roof from shingles or shingle is usually made of wooden plates. Sometimes in this case it is not used at all.

The Endowys

On the roofs of the profiled sheet and flexible shingles, two-part valley valleys are usually used. The first part is installed before the main material is installed and serves to protect the joint from water. The second is installed over sheets of metal profiles or flexible tiles and performs a purely decorative function.

For a vapor barrier, in addition to conventional polyethylene film, various types of foil materials can be used. It is fastened directly to the rafters with blocks after installation of the heat insulator. Waterproofing films are usually laid under the roof of the profiled sheet or shingles. Under the flexible tile is more often used waterproofing carpet. It is mounted on a continuous crate. Films are fastened directly to the rafters from above with a slight slack in order to avoid ruptures during the movement of the structural elements of the roof. The crate of the narrow board is stuffed from above.

Lining and backing carpets

These roof elements serve not only for additional waterproofing, but also for giving the strength of the coating when using flexible tiles. As an underlay carpet, for example, Ikopal, KATEPAL, Ruflex and other varieties can be used.

Rare carpets are often also very important elements of soft roofing. They are usually made of a soft, waterproof material.

Thermal insulation materials

Most often, basalt wool is used to insulate the roofs . It is inexpensive and at the same time very effective material. Its main advantages are considered to be a very low degree of thermal conductivity and incombustibility. However, mineral wool does not tolerate too much moisture. This material easily absorbs moisture and at the same time loses its thermal insulation qualities. Therefore, when using it, special attention should be paid to the quality of the hydro- and vapor barrier. Steam insulation from the inside must be used without fail.

The second most common is a heater, such as expanded polystyrene. The roof, finished by him, will be even warmer than that covered with mineral wool. Water polystyrene foam is not at all afraid, but the material is flammable. It is not recommended to use it where the mouse is found. The fact that these rodents are very fond of doing in the foam materials moves and arrange nests.

These insulation elements of roofing can be used to protect both the roof covered with profiled sheet, and flexible tiles, shingles or any other.
