Defend the pet from disease: how to warm the parrot

Sometimes people, when deciding to get a pet, are guided by the desire to acquire one, for which minimal care is needed. And many are sincerely mistaken, believing that in this respect the ideal choice is a parrot. Say, he sits in his cage, he does not need to walk with him, comb it out, too, and you can also teach you how to talk. However, such an opinion is deeply mistaken. Like any living creature (with the possible exception of cockroaches), parrots need attention. They are responsive to affection and will not do without observing certain rules of content.

It must be remembered that such birds - whether they are small, wavy or like a cockatoo - tropical creatures, for which the features of our climate are not at all comfortable.

Suitable temperature conditions

If you previously did not have such pets, do not seek immediately to attend to how to warm the parrot. First of all, if it is purchased in the summer, it is warm enough, the bird does not need additional heating. Although for parrots the most acceptable temperature is about 25 Celsius, reducing it to even 15 degrees will not do much harm.

But if the bird was bought in winter, early spring or late autumn, how to warm the parrot so that it does not freeze already on the way home, the question is more than relevant. In the pet store you will be offered a special bird carrying, insulated and protected from the wind. Since too often you will not use it explicitly, but it costs fairly, you can gently plant a live acquisition in a plastic jar with a door cut out from the side and wrap it in something warm - at least in a shawl, towel and scarf. If you bought a cage for a pet at the same time - do not even think about putting a bird into it, first you have to warm the house.

Dangerous times and temporary measures

Contrary to popular belief, in winter, the parrots threat to freeze a little higher than in the summer. In the high-rise buildings radiators have already been included, in the private houses the ovens are uncovered. How to warm the parrot, you have to think in the transition period - in the fall and spring, when the window is already cold, especially at night, and the heating season has not yet begun.

The simplest option - to hang over the cage a normal light bulb kilowatt to 60. Ordinary, because energy-saving does not warm at all. Before turning it on it is better to paint with blue or green paint, otherwise the parrot will have eyes irritated, which can result in conjunctivitis. This measure is temporary. Also it is necessary to limit flights of a bird - in the rest of the room it is rather cold. Since without movement, winged friends are bored, stunted and even sick, they will have to look for a more radical solution. However, the proposed method how to warm the parrot (the photo demonstrates clearly) is reliable and convenient.

The lamp should not be close to the bars and not illuminate the entire cage so that the "prisoner" can hide in the shade if it overheats. If the design of the house is not too disposed to create an unlit site, the corner can be covered with a cloth - and this provides a shadow.

Night heaters

When the day is still quite hot, and at night people begin to hide under the blanket, it will also help in solving the problem of how to warm the parrot. Cover the cage with a dense, soft and warm cloth, only leave small cracks so that the bird has more to breathe.

Both ways are well combined: the lamp should be switched off at night - it will interfere with the rest of both people and their pets, and under the cloth parrots will be warm and cozy.

Thermocouples proved to be good as local warming. In the house birds will not be cold with them. How to warm a parrot in a cage is a choice, and wide enough, but there remains the problem of restricting movements.

Long-term options

If the winter has subsided or has come before the heating season, for a long time the birds in the cage will not last - at least, healthy. So if it's already cold, and the batteries still do not come alive, you'll have to figure out how to warm the parrot in winter, on your own.

A good way out is the heater. However, with some reservations. The main thing is to choose oily. If the spirals are open, a curious bird can scorch its feathers and seriously burn. Second - to put the device at some distance from the cell, if the winged mischief sits in it. Otherwise, he risks getting a heat stroke. Third - overdried air badly affects birds. Therefore, next to the cage should be put a bowl of water (parrots, by the way, often it is a pleasure to take a bath). And the last: doors in the room tightly closed, so that your pet did not escape to a colder room. The changes in heat and cold are much more dangerous for him than freezing.

What to do in extreme conditions

Worst of all, when suddenly and permanently switched off the electricity with the radiators not yet turned on. No gathering in the kitchen with lit gas - the birds will get ready long before the light is given. And how to warm a parrot in such conditions? Lock in a cage and spread out in it bottles (better - plastic) with well-heated water. If the bird is tame, put it in a nest from a warm hat or scarf.

Additional precautions

The main danger for parrots is not low temperatures; Nevertheless air in most cases is cooled gradually, so there is time for taking action. Strangest of all - drafts. No cracks in the frames! Airing the room can and should be, but for this time the cage should be taken out of it.

Drink birds in the cold better with warm water; Many parrot eaters are advised to give honey decoctions of chamomile to avoid colds.

Otherwise, such pets give a little trouble, but a lot of joy and laughter. So a little effort - and your birdie will amuse you for many years.
