For the sake of new impressions from the game, fans of ARMA 2 are increasingly installing the addition of Day Z. Mod for zombie apocalypse is gaining increasing popularity. The trouble is that it's English-speaking, which means it's hard to find in Russian the simplest information on Day Z: how to determine where to get the files and how to play. This article will discuss the basic steps for installing the mod and detailed explanations for them.

First of all, it will not be superfluous to make sure that you have the latest version of the game containing all the released DLC. Without downloadable content, Arma 2 will only be suitable for single-player games in a standard campaign. If you still want to save (albeit to the detriment of the quality of the textures), then install at least Operation Arrowhead - with it, albeit not on all servers, you can go to Day Z. The game must be licensed, otherwise why do you then setup Day Z ? Steam - the only means of comfortable playing on the network in this modification, so you'll have to lay out your blood.

Download the modification should only from the official site of the game (it is easy to find through search engines) to avoid problems with viruses and spyware. So, download Day Z. How to install and unpack the archive into a separate folder, you should already know, otherwise you are expecting big problems with this mod. For those who forgot, we remind: you should put the downloaded archive into a separate folder, right-click on it, then select the "extract to this folder" item. Next, install the game, if you have not yet downloaded it from Steam.

When the game is installed and the mod is unpacked, proceed to the installation. Go to the folder where you have the game installed - there we need to create a new folder with this name: @DayZ. But the installation of Day Z itself will be done in another folder under the name addons, which you also have to create yourself inside the previous one. Carefully type the names of the folders to avoid problems and loss of time (for example, notice the presence of the "@" symbol in the name of one of them).

After creating the folders in the last one (addons), we transfer all the files from the downloaded version of Day Z. How do I set the modification so that the game sees it? Here everything is simple: mod files should be transferred to addons without the root folder. In other words, make sure that on the way from the above folder to the modification files there was not a single extra letter in the address line (at the top of the Windows window). For example, in the path "@DayZ \ addons \ mod \ mod files" the game simply does not find the mod files, it should be replaced with "addons \ mod files".

For the steam version of the game, you'll have to create a path to the mode yourself: first locate the steam folder (it should be in Program Files). Then go to the folders in this order: steamapps> common> arma 2. The last one is the root folder of the game, where you should create the mod directories, as above. It is important to remember that running steam should be on behalf of the administrator, otherwise the game will not be able to correctly identify the created folders, which will lead to various errors and crashes on the desktop.

If all the actions are performed correctly, then when you start the game in the menu, you can choose a modification of Day Z.
