Order of the Jesuits: several interesting facts for reflection

The Jesuit Order has existed for almost 500 years (it was founded in 1534). This male monastic order was the product of the counter-reformation era. In fact, it was created to rehabilitate the Catholic Church. At the same time, historians far from unambiguously characterize his activity. Why? Let's consider some interesting facts.

Fact number 1. First, let's talk about who was the founder of the Order of the Jesuits. Ignatius Loyola was originally a Spanish aristocrat, who dedicated his youth to the war. Some consider Ignatius Loyola to be a saint, but for others he is an ordinary religious fanatic. He himself admitted that he was "daring in courtship for women, he valued cheaply both his own and others' lives." But after receiving a severe wound in the defense of Pamplona in 1521, Iñigo de Loyola decided to change his life abruptly. After studying in Spain, and then in France, he became a priest. During the training, Ignatius, along with 6 like-minded people, vowed vows of chastity, nondegree and missionary work. Officially, the specified order was approved in 1540. It is possible that it was Loyola who contributed to the fact that the order was organized almost in military style.

Fact number 2. The Jesuit order is in many ways a missionary organization. True, the methods of preaching used by the Jesuits are far from the biblical examples. After all, they always tried to achieve success in the named business as soon as possible. For example, when preaching in China, the Jesuits first of all studied the customs of local residents. They presented Christianity as a kind of a kind of Chinese religion. Thus, the Jesuits behaved like admirers of Confucius. In particular, the members of the Order of the Pagan rite brought victims of Confucius and their ancestors, the sayings of the philosopher justified Christianity, hung out in the temples a plaque with the inscription "Worship the sky!". In the same way, the Jesuit Order operated in India. Preaching to the Indians, they remembered the existence of castes. For example, the Jesuits rejected any close communication with the pariahs ("untouchables"). Even communion was received at the end of a long stick. What the Jesuits preached was a bizarre confusion of Christian and pagan beliefs.

Fact number 3. "The end justifies the means" - the famous motto, which was followed by the Jesuit order. And indeed, to achieve the set goals, the Jesuits used any means: deception, bribery, forgery, slander, espionage and even murder. When it came to the interests of the order, there could be no moral barriers to the Jesuit. Thus, many historians are sure that it was the Jesuits who arranged the murder of the French King Henry of Navarre. Members of the Order openly justified the murder of a tyrant ruler. Also, the Jesuits are credited with organizing the so-called Gunpowder conspiracy that occurred in England in 1605. The Swedish King Gustav-Adolph called the members of this order the culprits of the disasters of all Germany. Because of their active work, the Jesuits were expelled from Portugal, Spain, France and Naples. It is therefore not surprising that now Jesuits are often called hypocrites, as well as cunning and crafty people.
