There is such a kind of troops as the RHBB. The abbreviation is thus: radiation, chemical and biological protection. These troops have a very important function not only during the war, but also in peacetime. If there was no RHBB, then people could not solve various problems that are related to the environment, life and health of all living things on the territory of their native land.

How did the troops of the RHBB

The day of the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection is celebrated on November 13. During the fighting in 1918 for the first time in the army used harmful chemicals to remove the enemy. In the same year on November 13, this type of army was officially created. They exist to this day. The troops of the Russian RHBB are one of the most sought after units for protecting both from the enemy and from the consequences during man-made disasters.

Until 1992, the RCBPs were called chemical forces. Despite the fact that the name changed, the functions and tasks remained the same. All officers and soldiers are called warriors-chemists. In the last century, the issue of biological and radiation protection of the population was not as acute as it is now.

Appearance of a warrior-chemist

Many saw a paratrooper jumping with a parachute, a tankman next to overland combat equipment, a sailor on a warship. And how to distinguish a warrior-chemist among others? The waves emerging from them to the edges of the benzene ring are radiation contamination.

Functions and tasks

The troops of the RHBB are called upon to conduct operations in the rear. Chemists do not go to the front. Their task is to protect their compatriots from the effects of various toxic substances, to carry out disinfection in the affected area. The soldier is also trained to correctly strike the enemy with poisonous chemicals.

Appliances and military equipment are used, which are associated with the assessment of the state of the environment, the destruction of hazardous substances. In training centers, conscript soldiers and officers are taught various specialties in radiation, biological and chemical protection.

Perfectly describes the scope of the flag of the troops of the RHBB. What is he like? If you look a little from afar, you can see not just a white background, but a cross with wide edges. In the center of the panel there is already a well-known symbol of RHBB. From him in four directions the stripes diverge: inside they are black, and on the outside are yellow. It looks like the flag of the Navy: the lines are criss-crossed, only of a different color. Another distinguishing feature of the same navy flag is the presence on the bands of an arrow and a torch with smoke.

Chernobyl heroes

Almost 30 years ago on the night of 25 to 26 April, a tragedy occurred. The explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (Chernobyl nuclear power plant) has claimed thousands of lives not only for workers, but also for residents. The reason, the extent of the defeat for a long time hid from people. And the most offensive, that did not mention the names of those dead heroes, who managed to eliminate further contamination of the environment. What was so terrible there? All NPPs of the world work thanks to radioactive substances, such as uranium, plutonium and many others. If a person without remedies is in contact with radioactive substances, then he dies after a while. Radiation has a detrimental effect on all organs, affecting the entire system of living cells.

In those terrible days, a plan was developed to eliminate the hotbed - a blown up reactor. Up to that time, no one had thought about what a radiation hazard was in general, but how to fight it, did not represent it at all. There was no need for this. Nuclear power plants were built in the hope that all workers would observe clear and rigorous rules during their work. Urgently, scientists developed methods of disinfection. It was necessary to urgently clean or enclose the Pripyat River so that its waters would not spread everywhere. The big trouble was also the rain and wind. Particles of radioactive substances were easily transferred beyond the zone of injury. It was not only the outskirts of Chernobyl and the nearest regions that got it. Affected neighboring Chernobyl areas of Ukraine and Belarus.

On the Day of Troops of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense, it will be appropriate to mention those chemical heroes who saved humanity from the global threat.
