Cuba Cayo Largo is a paradise

Cuba Cayo Largo, better known as the Pelicans Island, is located in the southeast of the Cannareos archipelago, eighty kilometers from the island of Cuba. Its length is only 25 kilometers.

It is completely built of limestone, and therefore its beaches are covered with a soft, like silk, white sand. In the north of the island there are many shallow salty lakes surrounded by mangroves.

The history of Cuba Cayo Largo is very rich and interesting. In the beginning, it was a base for fishing raids, there were such famous pirates as Jean Latiff, Drake, Henry Morgan. In 1494 Columbus landed on the island.

In the 16th and 18th centuries, almost two hundred ships sank in these places. There is even a legend that it is on Cuba Cayo Largo hidden treasure of pirates, so here you can often find researchers and hunters for treasure.

The island of Cayo Largo is practically isolated from civilization, and for this reason still retained its uniqueness. Here amidst the tropical luxuriant vegetation you can meet confidently strolling flamingos and a gray heron, as well as small hummingbirds.

The untouched nature of this heavenly corner, which has preserved peace with the charm of the nineteenth century, attracts those who prefer to leave far away from the city noise and fuss. Cuba Cayo Largo is famous for its snow-white beaches, the total number of which hardly exceeds a couple of dozen. However, rest on them is a pleasure: there are never storms here, and water does not cool below 26 degrees.

The crystal-clear sea attracts diving enthusiasts here, because this is the site of the second largest barrier reef on the planet , striking by steep walls and underwater tunnels, as well as by the diversity of its inhabitants: barracudas, marlinas, lobsters, grupers, etc.

Despite some isolation from the world, Cuba Cayo Largo has a well-developed tourism infrastructure, providing excellent opportunities for an unforgettable and boring holiday. The island has even built its own international airport, which provides its external connection.

Cayo Largo, reviews about the accommodation on which are exceptionally positive, offers tourists only seven three- and four-star hotels, which combine comfort and harmony with nature.

The quietest and most beautiful beach on the island is the Las Sirenas: there is almost no waves, and the merging of white, as snow, sand with blue shades of the sea is amazing. A little further away is Lindamar Beach with a hotel zone.

If you drive along the coast a little farther to the east, it creates the feeling that the island is uninhabited: among the numerous small hills and cliffs, many small beaches with the smallest sand, like flour, have been lost. This part of the coast is called coconut because of palm plantations growing right by the sea.

Cuba Cayo Largo is so small that it is quite enough to rent a bicycle or a moped to travel around the island and admire its natural beauties, and for a trip to neighboring islands to the services of tourists boats and catamarans: they literally strewn the entire coast.

And if the beaches of the Island of Liberty are called the best in the world, then the beaches of Cuba Cayo Largo - the very first in this list.
