Corvette "Resistant" project 20380

Corvette "Steady" project 20380 is the ship of the Russian Navy (with the onboard number 545) of the newest class, created in the development of the class of corvettes "Gremyaschy." It was developed in the Central Design Bureau "Almaz", built in 2006-2012, and in the summer of 2014 it became part of the Russian Navy. In addition to him, three more corvettes of the project are currently part of the Baltic Fleet. With its 2,200-ton displacement, the Stoiky corvette (like other project ships) is considered too large for its class by the "NATO" classification and refers more to frigates.

Appointment

Corvette "Resistant" project 20380 is multi-purpose. Such vessels are used for operations in the coastal zone, including sea blockade, counteraction to enemy submarines and surface ships, as well as for fire support of landing operations. Corvette "Steady" is included in the first batch of ships of this project, built at the "Northern Shipyard" in St. Petersburg and consisting of four ships. The second batch of seven corvettes will be built by the Amur Shipyard in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The Russian Navy publicly announced that it intends to acquire at least 30 such vessels for all four major fleets.

History of construction

Corvette "Stoic" was laid down on the slipway of the St. Petersburg "Severnaya Verf" in the autumn of 2006. Initially, it was expected to be launched in 2011. However, until the end of 2008, in fact, the corvette was not built because of the difficulties of financing, and the sections of its corps were simply standing in the shop for two years.

The situation changed after the survey of the ship under construction in the autumn of 2008 by the leading officials of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. After almost four years of construction at the end of May 2012, a solemn descent of the corvette to the water took place.

The State Commission on July 18, 2014 in Baltiysk signed an acceptance certificate for the new ship Stoykiy, the fourth serial corvette of the project 20380. The name of the corvette was inherited from its famous predecessor, the destroyer of the Baltic Fleet, defending Leningrad and Tallinn during the Second World War.

Corvette "Steady" and "Boykiy", having joined the Baltic Fleet in 2014 and 2013 respectively, have already caused concern in the headquarters of the armies of the Baltic countries, part of the aggressive NATO bloc.

General description of the design of the project 20308 corvettes

The corvettes have a length of 105 m, a width of 13 m and a draft of 3.7 meters. Unlike other antisubmarine ships that are in service with the Russian fleet, the corvettes of this project are distinguished by the following qualities:

  • Multifunctionality;
  • Compactness;
  • Low visibility for radars;
  • Ubiquitous application of automatic systems;
  • Modular principle, which is the basis of architecture.

It is the modularity of the architecture that makes it possible to easily modernize the arms of the corvettes by installing newer weapons systems while reducing production costs. The life cycle of such a ship, designed for 30 years, will be characterized by a constant and high modernization potential.

Underwater part of the hull of the ship

Corvette "Steady" has a steel case with a smooth deck, a bow bulb and fundamentally new contours of its underwater part. The combination of the nasal bulb (forward underwater part of the ship's nose) and new contours made it possible to achieve a qualitative leap in the matter of increasing the speed of the ship-at speeds of about 30 knots the water resistance of the corvette movement is reduced by a quarter in comparison with the traditional shape of the hull. This allowed, on the one hand, to reduce the power and weight of the main power plant of the ship, and on the other - to release from 15% to 18% of its displacement for use under additional combat equipment.

In the hull of the ship nine waterproof premises are made. They have a combined bridge and command center.

Superstructure of the corvette

It is made of composite materials, which are multi-layered hard-to-get fiberglass and structural materials made of carbon fiber. Their use is a sign of using in the construction of the superstructure a so-called low-visibility technology for radars or stealth technology. Possessing the ability to absorb and dissipate the energy of radars falling on them, these materials reflect a signal too low to the source of the signal (radar) to be detected. Therefore, on a radar screen a ship of impressive dimensions will give a mark corresponding to a small boat or even a boat.

At the stern of the corvette, a hangar for the anti-submarine helicopter Ka-27 and a landing site are made, which is an absolute innovation for Russian ships of such displacement. Crew crew "Steady" includes about 100 people together with a helicopter maintenance team.

The main power installation (GEM)

It consists of two diesel-diesel units (DDA), working through the summing reduction gears on two propellers. Each DDA consists of two 16D49 diesel engines (one provides forward and the second reverse) and a reversible gear unit. The economic course of the corvette is equal to 14 knots, and the full one to 27 knots. In autonomous navigation, the corvette "Steady", whose photo is shown below, can travel up to 4000 nautical miles.

The corvette's GEM is low-noise due to the use of technologies developed on nuclear submarines. Due to this, the ship became unobtrusive not only for radars, but also for passive sonars (noise locators).

In addition to GEM in the corvette power equipment, there are four diesel generators with a capacity of 630 kVA each to meet the ship's electrical needs.

Corvette "Persistent": weapons and fire control system

The armament of the corvette is divided according to its purpose for:

  • Anti-ship (artillery and missile);
  • Anti-aircraft;
  • Anti-submarine.

All the weapons systems of the ship operate under the control of the Sigma combat information system. It collects information from radars and sensors and provides a situational picture of the battle in real time. It also allows the ship to exchange reconnaissance information with other naval units in the grouping.

Anti-ship weapons are represented by two launchers (PU) of the Uran-U missile system, each of which contains an ammunition of four X-35 antiship cruise missiles with a range of 260 km. Uranus-U is located in the middle of the ship's hull.

The artillery of the ship is represented by the universal naval artillery A-190 "Universal". The caliber of her gun is 100 mm, the rate of fire (maximum) is 80 rds / min, the ammunition is 332 shots. Range of firing up to 20 km.

The air defense of the ship is provided by the Zrik "Kortik-M", installed on the tank, and two 6-barreled 30-mm artillery Ak-630M at the stern.

The corvette is equipped with two four-tube torpedo tubes for launching anti-torpedoes "Rubezh", capable of destroying both enemy torpedoes and submarines.

For close combat on the deck of the corvette, two machine-gun installations with a caliber of 14.5 mm and two grenade launchers DP-64 are placed to repel the landing.
