Compressor pressure switch: overview, models, manual, adjustment and feedback
Compressor stations provide the compressed air with tools and equipment, working under high pressure. Accordingly, without proper control, engine overloads and, as a consequence, breakages in the element base are not excluded. Therefore, modern models are equipped with a measuring component, which allows to keep the pressure values in the norm. For this, a pressure switch for the compressor is used in the form of a relay unit. But it is important to take into account that this device does not regulate the pressure by itself, but only informs the user about its values and in some cases can give a signal to stop the air supply.
Principle of operation and device
The design of the pressure switch is a small unit, provided with inlet pipes, a membrane and a sensitive element - a spring. During operation of the compressor, the pressure corresponding to the working level at the current moment is on the membrane. The membrane mechanically acts on the spring, which, in turn, transfers the load to the pressure switch. Pressostats for compressors, as already noted, do not exert a regulatory influence, but the excessive force of pressure on the spring automatically opens the circuit and the equipment switches off. Initially, the user can set the threshold, reaching which the spring produces an opening.
There are single- and three-phase models of pressure switches. The first operate in a 220 V network, are equipped with on / off buttons, as well as a discharge valve. The three-phase pressure switch for the 380 V compressor can additionally provide for the thermal protection of the motor in the design, since loads during the operation of high-power models of this type are also caused by high temperatures. These two types of pressostats differ in size, which is important to keep in mind with the construction add-on.

Universal connection flanges are used to connect the device. Depending on the model, their number can vary from 1 to 3. The standard size of the hole is 1/4 inch. In the expanded configuration, the flanges allow the addition of manometers, valves and fuses. Regarding the adjusting process, in the simplest models it is supposed to use one regulator, with which the peak value is set, after which the unit stops working. The multifunctional air compressor pressostat contains two regulators and a pressure gauge for presenting current pressures. The first regulator fixes the threshold value at overloads, and the second one allows to set the startup level of the unit after restoring the optimal state of the operating parameters.
