Every self-respecting gardener seeks to grow large and environmentally friendly fruits on his plot. However, quite often beginners in agriculture lose their crops due to various parasites or ailments of plants. What are the main pests and diseases of tomato found on the territory of Russia and CIS countries, experts explain.

Risectoniasis is the emergence of concentric spots that have a brown tinge. There are damages on unripe fruits and have sizes of 0.5-1.5 cm. Root rot can affect both young seedlings, and already an adult plant. To notice this disease it is possible on brown stains on a root neck of a bush or the fallen off ovary. There are pests and diseases of a tomato, characteristic only for tomatoes, for example a viral mosaic. The leaves of the damaged plant are covered with a mesh mosaic: light green islands interspersed with dark green slices, and yellow "smears" may appear on the fruits.

Spotting also exists in several forms: white and black. Both diseases look like gradually growing black dots. With septoriosis (white spotting), the spots grow in size and change to blackish grayish-milky, necessarily surrounded by a rich purplish fringe. The yellow edging with silvery dots on the fruits characterizes the black bacterial appearance of the disease.

To traditional insects, which are gladly flavored with tomato pieces, include the common Colorado beetle, aphid and tender whitefly. These are very dangerous pests, since they can devour the entire soft surface of the leaf, which means a shortage for the plant of various nutrients. Not inferior to the damage caused and a large bear, which gnaws the roots and the base of plants. Butterflies-scoops close the list of dangers for tomatoes.

Pests and diseases of a tomato can be quite a serious problem for beginners. While there is not enough experience to independently determine the problem, it is worthwhile to use the proven method. You can make a light solution of potassium permanganate and process all the plants, most importantly, try not to root roots.
