Coffee lungo: espresso for lovers of fortress and bitterness

Most people consider their morning drink to be coffee. Tea as an alternative is mentioned less than in 10% of cases. Perhaps, that is why the recipes for coffee are so diverse. The drink is prepared in many different ways and can include up to a dozen sometimes rather unexpected ingredients. Each person has a secret: someone thinks that the powder should be poured with boiling water, and someone - what to lower it into the water; There are disputes at which point it is right to put sugar and which spices are better combined with the aroma and peculiar taste of coffee. And with the advent of machines for cooking coffee, the drink became even more accessible for the morning use: less time is spent to prepare it - you will not be late for work.

Coffee Options

Those who have time to evaluate the advantages of a coffee machine, usually prefer a method of preparation, called espresso. Without a special device, you can not cook this kind of food, although there are people who believe that the boiled and ground coffee is in no way inferior to the espresso cooked in the coffee machine. However, you will not get a mandatory thick foam, but without it it's a completely different drink.

The second most popular subspecies is the American. It differs from espresso with a smaller fortress. And it is not surprising - this kind of drink is obtained by vulgar dilution of espresso with an additional portion of water. Without a modern coffee machine, you can not do that again.

And the third option - coffee lungo. We can say that it is somewhere in the middle between the American and the espresso: there is less water in it than in the first, but more than in the second, and in the fortress the same ratio is observed.

Long espresso

Note that the Lungo coffee was presented to the world by the same Italians. The name can be translated as "long", "long". The fact is that with the same initial amount of magic powder, the extraction process lasts twice as long (a minute, not 20-30 seconds). Water for coffee lungo is taken more than on espresso - up to 60 ml. Due to the fact that a much larger volume of liquid passes through the ground grain, some components are extracted into the drink from them, which do not have time to go into it if you use espresso technology. As a result, coffee lungo has more bitterness and caffeine than in espresso (and even more so in americano). Apart from a longer cooking time, the recipes for espresso and lungo do not differ from each other in any way.

Delicious variety

Not everyone knows, but you can drink (and need, especially in the heat!) Cold and with pleasant additives. If there is a coffee machine and you have already prepared an unfamiliar kind of a favorite drink, make a foam from milk, pour your lungo into a tall, beautiful glass, pour in ice (it is better shattered, but it can be diced), put foam and sprinkle with grated chocolate. Refreshes, invigorates. And, most importantly, it is delicious!
