CLASSPNP.SYS does not load in safe mode: causes, recommendations and reviews

Unfortunately, starting with the version of Windows Vista, you can notice that often enough there are problems with the "departure" of the system, after which even in safe mode the system hangs after loading (CLASSPNP.SYS - the last component on which the stop occurs). Let's see what this can be connected with, and how to restore Windows performance.

CLASSPNP.SYS is not loaded: causes

As for the reasons for the emergence of such an impartial situation, they can be quite a lot. Typically, even if you reboot using the F8 (Safe Mode) key, the system seems to behave normally. But suddenly for some reason a certain component, in our case CLASSPNP.SYS, is not loaded in a safe mode.

In general, such a phenomenon can be observed, for example, when the computer system is corrupted by a virus, integrity violation or due to the absence of the CLASSPNP.SYS file itself, as well as in case of conflicts with third-party applications or during system loader failures.

Windows did not load (CRCDISK.SYS, CLASSPNP.SYS): consequences

In general, such failures are most typical for two system libraries - CRCDISK.SYS and CLASSPNP.SYS. The first is a hard disk checker, the second is responsible for the mode of operation of the SCSI hard drive. The violations in their work are simply catastrophic. These components are located in the system drivers folder of the System32 directory of the Windows root directory. It is clear that their damage entails negative consequences. In some cases, it is even impossible to restore Windows. But first things first.

Safe mode does not work: what should I do?

So, we have a situation when the CLASSPNP.SYS system library is not loaded in safe mode. Signs of this failure can be a complete hang on the download of this component. And in some cases - even the emergence of BSoD (what is commonly called the blue screen of death).

Proceeding from the reasons mentioned above, we will make a decision to eliminate the consequences of such a failure. First, consider the rollback of the system, presumably based on the fact that the file is still on the hard drive and is not damaged (the cause of the failure can be covered in the other).

Restoring the system

When, for example, Windows 7 hangs on loading CLASSPNP.SYS, you can try to reuse the boot loader using the F8 key, but only after you enter the menu you should choose not the safe mode, but the last successful configuration.

In principle, if the file itself is not damaged, then there is a reason absolutely not related to this, often enough, the recovery takes place without any problems. However, not always. It also happens that when you try to rollback, when the recovery options window appears , the system enters into such an endless search. In this state, it can hang very long time. What to do in this case? Let's try to use several universal tools.

We check the system for viruses

If there is a situation where the Windows 7 startup stops at CLASSPNP.SYS, it is very likely that the computer or laptop is infected by some kind of virus. Actually, it's something you need to remove or isolate. But how to do this, because the system does not boot, and the regular antivirus or some portable utility simply can not run?

Here we receive the help of universal and, perhaps, the most effective means of verification, which are usually called recovery discs (Rescue Disk). True, you will have to write a disk on another terminal, but its subsequent use to eliminate all possible threats in our case is the only possible and correct solution.

The utility of the scan starts before the start of the operating system boot (in the BIOS it will be necessary to specify the CD / DVD-ROM as the first Boot device). After starting the program will prompt the user to select the mode of operation (load the graphical interface, use some language, make processes from the command line, etc.). Choose a graphical interface - so most convenient. Now it is only necessary to start the scanning process (installed by default or by selecting objects and disk partitions manually). Even if the virus has seized deeply in the operating or system memory, there is no doubt that it will be detected and completely isolated or deleted.

Download the file from the Internet or copy the original file from the installation disc

Again, and what if the viruses were not detected, and again the component stops the download, or does the system reboot to CLASSPNP.SYS? This state of affairs may indicate that the file is simply damaged or missing in the default location. Some recommend using its replacement on the original library. There are two options: download the file from the official resource from another terminal or try to copy it from the installation disk, which we will need in any case (even when copying the object from the USB device).

Consider the second method, since it is almost completely identical to the first. Except for the fact that copying will be done, for example, not from a flash drive, namely from an optical media with an installation distribution.

As already clear, we boot from the disk. After the installer's GUI appears on the screen, do not enable the installation, but use the command line (it is called by the combination Shift + F10). Then copy the "drive letter or flash drive" command: \ "path to file" c: \ windows \ system32 \ drivers move the file to the desired location (the command is entered without quotes). After that, you can try rebooting the system and see what happens when you download.

Separately, pay attention to the file being copied. Its version should correspond to the system's bit depth, because if you put a file for 64-bit version in 32-bit Windows 7, then nothing will work.

Restore the loader

If this does not help, and the situation repeats over and over again (CLASSPNP.SYS is not loaded in safe mode or in any other way), the problem may be the damage to the Windows boot loader and the boot sector itself. Here you have to apply extreme measures. Again, this requires a Windows boot disk or some Live CD. As in the previous version, you need to call the command line, and then start standard disk checking by entering the sequence chkdsk c: / f / r.

After this, you can proceed directly to the bootloader recovery. To do this, you need to enter two main commands in the console:

  • Bootrec.exe / FixMbr
  • Bootrec.exe / FixBoot

After that, of course, you can try to restart the system, but it's better to overwrite the entire boot sector for complete certainty. To do this, use the Bootrec.exe / RebuildBcd command. Now the download should occur in any mode.

If the system ever booted ...

Finally, we draw attention to one more point. If the system at least once loaded after using the first methods, it is possible that conflicts arise between some software. User feedback indicates that, oddly enough, very often this problem occurs through the fault of the Daemon Tools package. It is claimed that changing it to a lite version of Lite eliminates the problem.

However, when the system is loaded, you can use the utility DLL Suite, which will automatically restore all vital system libraries, including CLASSPNP.SYS.

The result

That's all about the reasons for the failure, when CLASSPNP.SYS is not loaded in a safe mode, and how to eliminate the negative consequences of such situations. If we talk about which method to prefer, I think it's best to immediately use the bootloader recovery, and then apply the DLL Suite program. Such a path may seem to many to be a roundabout way, nevertheless in most cases it is this combination that helps. Of course, you can not discount the simplest solutions, because the problem can have quickly eliminated reasons. But in general, there should not be any special problems. Yes, one more, the last recommendation: always have at hand some antivirus and boot disk, and then everything can happen.
