What is the mixture for floor leveling?

Mixtures for self-leveling floors - this is an excellent alternative to the usual concrete screed. Depending on the composition of the dry mixture , three main goals are achieved for leveling the floor : rough leveling, finishing, and leveling of the surfaces on the floors of garages and industrial premises where no additional coatings are used.

Coarse leveling is done by using low-flow agents, such floor leveling mixtures are designed to work with a very uneven surface.

For the final leveling, more flowable formulations are used, which, when spreading, create a perfectly flat surface. Mixtures for leveling floors with a high degree of fluidity are used after a rough leveling, which makes the floor perfectly smooth. Such formulations are used for surfaces that will be coated with roll materials, such as linoleum or carpet.

Self-leveling floors used without coating are classified according to the room in which they will be used:

  • Strong mechanical loads of up to 10 tons. The thickness of the screed should be about 6 mm, the mixture should be as durable as possible, resistant to water and sun.
  • Light and medium mechanical loads. Floor layer - up to 2 mm.

Types of material

Mixtures for floor leveling are of several types:

  • Gypsum - used for work inside and outside the room.
  • Cement - used for screed inside the building. Compositions of special cement with fiber additives form a mixture for leveling wooden floors.
  • Epoxy mixtures are made on the basis of epoxy resins, the coatings of such a plan have a chemical resistance, they are firm and strong, but they are not elastic, which can affect with large shock loads.
  • Acrylic blends are made on the basis of methyl methacrylic resins, designed exclusively for industrial premises, hardens such a mass in 2 hours, the work can be performed at any temperature. The disadvantage is the difficulty in working and the abrasive instability.
  • Polyurethane coatings are hard and elastic, perfectly suited for constant vibration and mobility of the floor, but do not withstand chemical influences.

Rules of work

  • The filling floor is applied to a clean surface without any elements capable of reducing the adhesion.
  • The substrate on which the mixture is applied should not have holes or cracks to prevent leakage of the solution.
  • Primer is applied to any base, if the substrate under the filling floor absorbs moisture quickly, then the priming works must be repeated after 24 hours.
  • For even distribution of the mixture, special beacons are used to level the floor.
  • Fill the surface with stripes or squares, each subsequent fragment is poured so that the edge of the previous one does not have time to dry out.

The advantage of the floor is its simple laying, which is why it is so widespread in construction work.
