Choosing an extension on the coil

Undoubtedly, the most popular today is the gasoline garden and construction tools, but do not forget about the electric models. They are much cheaper, and in the process of exploitation they deliver not so much problems.

But they also have one important drawback: they constantly require a connection to the network. Accordingly, it is important to correctly choose an extension cord on the coil. Why such? Because it is much more convenient to drag a compact coil around the site, which can be quickly wound up if necessary, rather than walking with a couple of tens of meters of cable! What parameters should be taken into account?

Maximum load

This is the most important indicator. Each extension on the coil must be appropriately marked on the housing. Typically, for domestic use, average power (within 2.5 kW) will work well, as standard electric saws are rarely more powerful.

Cable color

Strangely enough, but this is also an important indicator. What cable do you think you can saw while standing on the ladder and trimming the garden trees? Of course, the one whose color merges with the bark of the tree. Than it can threaten, to remind for certain it is not necessary.

Coil

Since we choose an extension cable on the coil, it would be nice to pay attention to it. First, you need to try to twist it: if the mechanism produces a cable without too much effort, but not too easy, you can buy. In both opposite cases, nothing good is waiting for you.

If the reel unwinds too tightly, you will be constantly forced to distract from work, supporting the cable. In the event that the cord will be unwound from it spontaneously, risk jamming about countless loops. A normal extension on the coil should have a locking mechanism that stops unwinding.

Length

You are probably surprised that we did not touch upon this aspect a little earlier. All because it is difficult to give any recommendations - the choice of the length of the cord entirely depends on your needs. But there is only one remark. Do you remember what an induction is? If so, you yourself probably know that if you use a powerful device that consumes almost the same power as the extension cable itself, the cable must be completely unwound. When users do not, often there are cases of ignition of the wire.

Number of sockets

Of course, I want to take a device to the dacha, through which it is possible to connect more devices. But this should not be done: the extension cord on the coil itself will surely withstand the power consumption, but in fact it is connected to a single outlet. And given the standard state of wiring in suburban homes, this is fraught with a fire!

To do this, you only need the required amount of cable, plug and socket. As a coil, you can use an ordinary wooden spool. So often come those who need extra meters to connect the electric saw.
