Cherry tomatoes - useful table decoration

The group of cherry tomatoes unites tomatoes with small fruits, the mass of which does not exceed 25 grams. Over the past few years, cherry tomatoes have become incredibly popular among Russian consumers. They have very high dietary value, excellent taste and are well preserved in the home. In addition, these fruits are used to decorate festive and everyday dishes, as their color varies in fairly wide range depending on the variety. Very traditional rich red cherry tomatoes are very popular. There are also greenish-yellow, orange, pink and even striped brown-violet fruits. In addition, their shape can be both classical rounded, and elongated, drop-shaped.

The nutritional value of cherry is very high, and by some indicators even surpasses large-fruited tomatoes. For example, the content of sugars, antioxidants and vitamins in cherry tomatoes is two times higher. The taste of some expensive varieties is very original, it is very sweet and has a pleasant aftertaste of raspberries, melons or even blueberries. Undoubtedly, the price for such exotic varieties is high, and not everyone will afford to buy such fruits, but, nevertheless, they are in great demand. Such cherry tomatoes are imported from Israel, Spain, Turkey and Holland.

Meanwhile, in Russia cherry tomatoes are becoming popular , growing and breeding of which is very successful. We had the very first sorts of such varieties as Businka, Andryushka, Winter Cherry, which pleased many Russian farmers. These varieties began to grow not only on beds in the open ground, but also on balconies or windowsills of typical city apartments. A little later, a sort of carpal Vorobushek, which had beautiful red fruits, as well as Koroleva Margo, Limonchik, Golden Bug and Noon, was introduced.

How to grow cherry tomatoes on your own land? Quite simply. To begin with, it is necessary to select competently the varieties of tomatoes, the conditions of growth of which must correspond to the climatic features of the region. From this will depend first of all the success of growing tomatoes and the abundance of their fruiting. Cherry tomatoes do not tolerate colds, because of the low temperature they begin to become covered with small cracks and deform. Therefore, it is recommended not to start planting seedlings until the air temperature rises to +10 degrees.

When choosing seedlings, first of all you need to pay attention to the stems and leaves, which should not have black dots, traces of damage by insects. Do not buy already flowering seedlings, because it may not settle down. A very important condition is the depth of planting, since this will determine the stability of the bush. Its height sometimes reaches 1.5 meters, so the stems must be tied all the time, so that they do not break under the weight of their own weight and do not spread along the ground. This will greatly facilitate the cultivation and harvesting. Nevertheless, the conditions for the care of cherry tomatoes are similar to the maintenance of conventional large-fruited tomatoes. They prefer soils with normal acidity, in which there is no stagnation of water. Cherry must be watered daily to get a rich harvest, and therefore water should pass easily and freely through the soil layers. These little tomatoes perfectly rise and grow well, have increased resistance to stress and sudden changes in temperature conditions. They are direct relatives of wild varieties of tomatoes. It should be remembered that the roots of the cherry are quite deep, so when feeding it is important to achieve the most profound penetration of fertilizers into the soil. It is also desirable to mulch the soil so that the leaves and fruits of the cherry are not in contact with it.
