Cemetery of cars, or Where the "Iron Horse"

Excavations show that already ancient Celts buried dead relatives. Egyptians in their time created entire cities for burial - necropolises. Currently, there are various types of burials: cemeteries of the mafia, underwater burials, resting places of celebrities, cemeteries of domestic animals. It turns out that some old and even new cars also fall into original cemeteries. Let's talk about them in more detail.

How does the car cemetery appear?

It would seem that it would be more logical to sell the whole shabby "iron horse" to sell, or, if there are not any, there are no spare parts. But often this does not happen. At first the hand does not go up to the "loyal comrade", and then rust does not give him any benefit. So there are dumps of old cars.

Cemetery of cars can be found:

  • in the forest;
  • in the village;
  • In buildings abandoned by people (old hospitals, children's camps);
  • On abandoned parking lots.

Usually the place of burial of the car territory becomes accidental. For example, the owner owned a small business. He bought up old cars for nothing , dismantled them for spare parts and sold them. Then the businessman died, and none of his relatives took up his case.

Sometimes, in order not to waste space in the parking lot or not to pay for parking, the owners themselves take their old cars to the forest or village and leave them there forever.

At present, there are whole necropolises of unsold cars. There the corpses leaving the factory, but not found the owners of absolutely new machines, are passing their time.

Abandoned cars abroad

It is believed that the first car cemetery appeared in the US in the 30s of the last century. True, at first it was not the disposal of the old cars, but a small business of the Lewis family. Senior Lewis bought up old cars and sold them for spare parts. In the 72nd year the father of the family passed away, and no one caught his "baton".

Now in Georgia, under the scorching sun, about 5,000 rusty cars, trucks, service cars, as well as tractors and school buses are rusting. The area of the cemetery is almost 140 thousand square meters.

Another car cemetery was located in Oregon. Old cars are dusting near the central airport of Eugene. Once it was the transport of the company "Scott & Sans". The office was engaged in the evacuation of "iron horses". In 2005 the company went bankrupt. Quickly to sell out the car it did not turn out, and the cemetery was formed.

Currently, there are car dumps in Sweden, Belgium, England, France. In Bolivia there is a cemetery of old trains. Ukraine is sadly famous for the remains of Chernobyl technology.

In all countries, there is a different attitude to this phenomenon. Someone, like Americans, makes museums from the automobile necropolis with a paid entrance, while other countries, for example Switzerland, destroy the burials of rusty retro "horses."

How do the "iron horses" in Russia survive?

When people talk about a car cemetery in Russia, they usually mean just a dump of old equipment that was accidentally discovered in the suburbs in the forest, or dozens of rusting cars that have stood on the side of country roads for years.

However, there are more or less official dumps of cars. For example, a car cemetery in Moscow. The capital was distinguished by the presence of a thematic museum. It is believed that any visitor to the site of the SUE "Mosgortrans" can see how old old public cars survive: trolleybuses, trams and buses. However, according to eyewitnesses, visitors are not allowed there. And behind retro "horses" nobody watches.

Another "burial" of the car can be found near the Sheremetyevo airport. In the Moscow suburbs, crumbling cars are rusting in the territory of an abandoned factory. At the same time, virtually every abandoned car is officially owned.

Cemetery of unsold cars

Even less lucky cars, which have never had owners. Every year around 90 million cars are produced in the world, but not all are created to go on them. Part of the exhibits almost immediately goes to the cemetery of new cars.

Entire necropolises of unsold cars appear in major cities around the world. For example, in different cities near the plant "Nissan" there are cemeteries of cars that did not find their owners.

New cars are rusting in the large car park of Swindon in England, about 60 thousand cars are waiting for their owners in Maryland. "Citroen" dust in England, "Toyota" - in California, "Ford" - in Detroit. Even the powerful Land Rovers can not leave Liverpool in any way.

Thousands of cars from Europe and the USA are at the airport of St. Petersburg. All these machines are waiting for the owners. But there is no one who wants to, and no. On the one hand, it seems, discard the car dealers price, and the owners would be found. But the directors of the factories will never take such a risk, because otherwise all prices for cars will go down dramatically. So there are dumps of new "iron horses".
