Carp coils and rods. Carp equipment

Until recently, carp fishing enthusiasts did not particularly worry about the type of coil for the rod and its functions. And casting, and disregarding had to be done, who knows how. But with the advent of feeder gear and the arrival of high-quality imported fishing gear on our market, it turned out that catching carp can be much more effective and more exciting.

Today, specialized carp coils can be purchased at any fishing store. However, their assortment is so wide that it is not so easy to choose the most suitable one from time to time. We will talk about the most popular manufacturers and models of carp fishing coils, and also discuss the features of the main types of equipment for this fish.

A little from the history of carp coils

Carp coils, as, indeed, the rods, and most of the rigs, came to us from the UK. Richard Walker, the world famous anglerfish, for the first time in the fifties of the last century suggested using instead of the usual inertia models with fixed spools. After a while, the first prototypes of modern designs appeared - inertia-free spinning coils for Mitchell-300, and a little later Mitchell-350. They are still used today both for catching a predator and for peaceful fish, albeit in a modernized form.

Since then, carp coils have been improved as individual models by different manufacturers. Since 1980, two Japanese companies "Shimano" and "Daiva" are in the lead and competing in this market. Producers from Europe are trying to keep up with them, but to date leadership remains behind Japan.

Basic requirements for modern carp coils

Feeder fishing in most cases involves long and accurate casting. Without a good coil, you must agree, there is no way to do. It should not only contain a sufficient amount of fishing line, but it is also easy to drop it when cast, excluding hooks and entanglements.

In addition, coils for carp fishing, given the size and strength of this fish, must necessarily have a reliable friction brake. He will not let go of the catch caught on the hook, and also protect the tackle from the cliff.

Needless to say, carp has serious resistance when it comes out, and it takes a long time to get it out of the water. All the load then falls on the coil. If it is not sufficiently reliable, it will not be enough for one serious fishing. Therefore, choosing a coil for carp, preference should be given to proven branded models.

What is a baytaner and why is it needed?

On the shelves of specialized fishing stores, you can recently see coils with a bypasser. This foreign word appeared on the price tags not so long ago, but immediately stirred up the minds of our fishermen. What kind of thing is this and why is it equipped with a carp coil? Baytaner is a system designed to temporarily disengage the friction brake under certain conditions. It allows the undercut fish to freely pull the line from the spool. This will continue until the angler turns on the friction. But why all this?

It's all about the power of carp and its habits. For example, with a sharp bite, he easily drags the rod along with the stand, the fisherman will not have time to blink an eye. The same can happen when the fishing rod is in the hands of an angler. But what about the friction brake?

Friction is usually set up to fish out the fish in consideration of its size and strength, but during a sudden sudden jerk it can be useless.

How the bypasser works

Bypasser is activated by switching a special lever or staples in the rear of the coil. This is done after the casting and tightening of the tackle. From the moment of its inclusion the friction will be in neutral position. Now the rod can be safely put on the stand, without fear of a sharp bite.

When the carp bites and begins to leave, the spool will gradually give the fishing line until the angler stops this process. The baytunner can be switched off manually, with the same lever that is turned on, or automatically when the coil handle rotates.

By the way, this system is used not only for catching carp. Many inertia-free spinning coils also have a bypasser. He perfectly copes with both pike-perch and pike.

Carp coils with Baytra from Daiva

Among the many modern models of the coil "Daiva" deservedly occupy a place of honor. Japanese quality and high reliability are their main advantages over other manufacturers.

The most popular carp models equipped with a bypasser include:

  • Daiwa Regal X BR and Z BR - budgetary power carp coils with bytrailer. Hold up to 270 m of fishing line.
  • Daiwa Black Widow BR is a powerful and reliable model for fishing for large carp. It has 3 steel bearing mechanisms and a reverse stopper. Holds 200-230 m of fishing line.
  • Daiwa Tournament Linear is a heavy-duty coil with a multi-disc clutch and spools with an increased winding pitch. It has 4 bearings and can hold up to 400 m of fishing line.
  • Daiwa Infinity IF-X BRA - a coil designed for catching trophy carp. Has an increased spool, anti-twisting roller and balanced rotor Gyrospin. Can hold up to 450 m of fishing line.

The listed coils "Daiva" differ excellent ergonomics, they have a special coating, which protects from the effects of water and dirt, as well as quickly folding handles.

Carp coils of the company "Shimano"

The company "Shimano" is also widely known in our market for its products. Her models are no worse than carp coils Daiva, and in some cases even surpass them. And the point here is not so much in quality as in technological features.

The most popular coils of this manufacturer for carp fishing are:

  • Shimano Super Baitrunner 10000 XTR RA - the best carp coil company with baytuner. It has 8 bearings, an aluminum spool, can hold up to 510 m of fishing line.
  • Shimano Baitrunner ST 2500 FA - high-tech model with the possibility of replacing the spool. It has only 2 bearings and a friction brake with front seating.
  • Shimano Baitrunner DL 2500 FA is a simple and reliable coil with 4 bearings, a front clutch and the ability to replace the bobbin.
  • Super Baitranner XTE A is a large heavy feeder coil on a trophy carp with a bobbin size of 10,000. It has a mass of 600 g and 8 bearings.

What is the rigging. Features of carp equipment

If you understand the coils, you can talk about the rigging on the carp. This fish has quite specific habits, so the usual montages here do not always work.

Tooling is an element of tackle, including a hook, a leash and additional devices located on the line below the weigher.

The difference between carp snows from the rest is that they are all designed for one feature of carp - do not swallow immediately, but suck in potential food with your lips, testing it in this way for safety.

That is why most carp assemblies are designed for the care of fish.

The main types of carp snap

  1. Silent rigging. The usual installation with fixed fastening of the load and hook. It features a long (up to 40 cm) leash. Great for fishing in stagnant water.
  2. Sliding rigging. This installation, in which the sinker is not tightly attached to the line, but has the ability to freely move through it. This option makes it possible to carry out the most distant casting, and also significantly offloads the tackle without straining the carp with its weight.
  3. Hair accessories. It is used mainly for carp fishing using boilies. Its essence lies in the fact that the nozzle is fixed not on the hook, but on the "hair" - a thin line, tied to the ear of the hook and located in close proximity to it. When the carp sucks "safe" bait, the hook will follow it unnoticed. Spit it out, considering that it's naked, almost impossible.
  4. "Helicopter" equipment. The essence of this installation is that the leash to the main line is not fixed vertically, as usual, but horizontally, more precisely, perpendicularly, through a triple swivel. The cargo is suspended at the end of the main line. This installation is ideal for long-distance casting, since it virtually eliminates the twisting of the tackle.
  5. Floating equipment. Used for catching in conditions of overgrown or silted bottom. The main feature is the placement on the hook of the hook of foam plastic balls, raising it with the baited over the bottom.
