Careful, roseola! Symptoms may be absent!

What is roseola? A literal translation from the "medical" language of this word means a clearly delineated, very bright red rash that resembles a bean in shape. It is also called a disease that is caused by herpes of type 6 or type 7. Most often this infectious disease affects children up to two years. Sometimes suffer from roseola and people of other age categories. If an adult suddenly had constant fatigue, decreased appetite and immunity, irritability, and suddenly a red rash has covered the skin, then, perhaps, he begins roseola. Symptoms of it in children and adults are different. If adults most often complain of skin manifestations and decreased tone, then the disease is more difficult for children. Usually, roseola in children begins with a sudden rise in temperature. In two or three hours, it can rise to 40 °. Naturally, there are all the ailments caused by heat: fatigue, lethargy, headaches, sometimes - indigestion. The baby becomes capricious, refuses to eat, does not sleep well. After a few hours, the temperature drops, but the body is covered with a characteristic pink rash. There may appear a slight cough or swelling of the nasal mucosa, but there is no discharge at all. Roseola, the symptoms of which the baby can manifest for a week, passes by itself. The complexity of the disease is that it is often confused with allergies, rubella and some other more common diseases. Sometimes a doctor until the end of treatment can not understand that the patient has roseola: symptoms, especially in adults, can manifest solely in chronic fatigue. The disease has many other names: exanthema subitum or sudden, pseudo-red, sixth illness, baby roseola or a three-day fever. The last name practically describes the course of the disease: most often the roseola in children disappears in 2-3 days.

How to treat roseola?

If the child has a high fever, then this is the reason to call a doctor. Roseola in adults often passes asymptomatically, but usually a person affected by the herpes virus, feels a strong, impassable fatigue. This is also an occasion to visit a doctor. Treatment with this diagnosis does not require special or specific medications. The first, and often the only help is to take antipyretic drugs for children and drugs that increase immunity. However, in no case can you independently prescribe drugs, especially children. Self-medication is always dangerous, and if roseola begins, some substances can only exacerbate the disease. Categorically prohibited aspirin: it can cause a number of serious side effects. Sometimes the febrifuge almost does not work. This is unpleasant, but not terrible: it happens if the diagnosis of "roseola" is made. Symptoms of it in children and adults will be in a few days. Sometimes children are prescribed antipruritic drugs, and in case of a cold - preparations that treat edema of the nasal mucosa. At this time, you need to take a lot of fluids. Fit all: mineral water, natural juices and homemade compotes, herbal teas. Roseola is an infectious disease, therefore it is recommended to limit the contacts of the patient, especially children.
