The family of compact light trucks "Sobol" appeared in 1998 and included minivans of several modifications - GAZ-2310 onboard and vans.

New universal model

"Sable" is a separate, independent development of the design office of GAZ. If you do not take into account the external similarity with the "Gazelle", then in the rest it is a completely different type of car, with a different application. The carrying capacity of the Sobol is less than that of the Gazelle for 500 kg, and is one ton. But at the same time as a minibus for transportation of passengers in urban conditions, "Sable" is preferable, the car is more economical, convenient and compact.

The "Sable" with "Gazelle" high degree of unification, almost complete interchangeability of the cabin, engine, clutch and gearbox. Lights, windows, mirrors and door handles are also interchangeable. This significantly improves the repairability of both cars.

Main settings

"Sable" features an original frame with spars, front suspension (two-link independent on ball bearings), rear suspension on fundamentally different springs, less rigid, but with a large margin of safety. Sable has modernized brakes, front discs are much larger in diameter than Gazelle's, rear drum brakes.

If you specify the Sobol model range, then at the first position is 2310 GAZ - a flatbed truck with a single cab, then cargo-passenger vans with two rows of seats and an open container for loading loose building materials, a minibus "Barguzin" for ten comfortable seats. And the minibus "Lux" completes the lineup for six places.

The lineup

Small-tonnage trucks are not produced only as carriers of building materials. Some cars are intended for transportation of passengers on city routes and country lines within two hundred kilometers. The machine considered by us is produced according to the same scheme. Low-tonnage trucks of the brand "Sable" are already familiar both on construction sites, and on city streets, and on country roads.

A separate category is Gas-2310 (vans). These machines have a different specialization, they are universal carriers and therefore everything necessary for the participation of the machine in the construction project is concentrated in the bodywork. And if there are no construction tasks, then the machine is used as a transport for transportation of small lots of goods. In this case, the cargo is adjacent to a loader crew, conveniently located on two rows of comfortable seats.

GAZ-2310: characteristics

Weight and overall parameters:

The triple van, with a carrying capacity of 770 kg, has the following dimensions: 2460/1830/1530. Loading and unloading of the van is carried out through the side sliding door and rear swing doors. The loading height does not exceed 700 mm. The height of the luggage compartment is just over one and a half meters.

The rear of the Sobol, as well as the interior of the cabin, is more like a minivan than a truck. And although its length is less than the "Gazelle" by 660 mm, the parameters of the cabin did not change, visually the interior space remained the same spacious.

The salon of each "Sable", issued in a cargo-passenger format, is equipped with a blind separating partition. Thus, passengers are isolated from the cargo hold, which means they do not have to breathe cement dust or other harmful building fractions.

Power point

The cars of the Sobol family are equipped with several types of engines. This four-cylinder, in-line, gasoline engines with a working volume of 2.3 liters (brand ZMZ-4066.10) and a power of 150 hp. At a rotation of 5,200 rpm. Also, at the request of the buyer, the car is equipped with a two-liter turbodiesel (GAZ-560), with a capacity of 100 hp. At 4500 rpm with microprocessor controlled fuel delivery. The motor allows you to reach speeds of up to 140 km / h. The fuel consumption is from 9.5 to 11 liters per 100 km.

Initially, under the hood of the Sobol engine engines Zavolzhsky engine plant. After modernization, the cars began to be equipped with Cummins engines. This proved to be an additional argument in favor of buying a truck. Then the car began to be offered in the all-wheel drive variant. At the same time there were such qualities as maneuverability, power consumption of the running gear, low price and many more different offers that looked like bonuses.

Buyers dismantled compact trucks also because the cargo platform of the car was understated, and it is very convenient if the car is used on construction sites. For loading only the forklift truck , no cranes and hoists is needed.

Soon it became clear to consumers that they have a very efficient, reliable, convenient and inexpensive truck in their hands, which is ready to work day and night. Sales increased. The issue of spare parts was not standing, as they were in any assortment and cost relatively inexpensive. The repairability of the machine was high, many operations the driver could do himself.

Transmission

The engines are equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox. And this is another plus that speaks in favor of the truck.

Chassis

The front suspension is a two-link, independent, with gas shock absorbers and a crossbar stabilizer bar.

Suspension rear - dependent, on longitudinal semielliptical springs, with hydraulic shock absorbers and a beam-stabilizer of lateral stability.

Brakes

The system is a two-circuit hydraulic system, equipped with a vacuum amplifier and a critical drop-in liquid level sensor. The front brakes are ventilated discs, the rear brakes are drum. For an additional fee, the car is equipped with ABS.

general review

Until 2006, all 2310 GAZ automobiles from the Sobol family were produced in small batches until their conveyor was connected to the production line of the Gazelle assembly. Double assembly using unified parts dramatically increased the release of "Sable". Russian buyers began to receive 2310 GAZ cars in sufficient quantities.

However, the need for low-tonnage trucks continued to grow, since it was at that time that restrictions were imposed on entry to central Moscow for cars of this class. The carrying capacity of the 2310 GAZ, which was 900 kg, fully corresponded to the permissible weight. And it pleased the owners.

In 2010, all 2310 GAZ cars were restyled and received the name "Sable business." In a new guise, compact trucks looked much better, all restrictions were lifted, and Sable began to serve the center of Moscow.

Cost

Currently, "Sable", the price of which has always kept within reasonable limits, costs about 750 thousand rubles. This allows you to purchase it without much effort. Whichever modification is sold "Sable", the price will in any case be acceptable.
