It was built in 1957, when Francesc Miro-Saens was the president of the country, who put forward a plan for the future stadium. The reason for this was the competition with the football club "Real Madrid", because he then managed to build the "Santiago Bernabéu". The "Camp Nou" -stadium was built under the guidance of the architect Francesc Mithans. However, during the work there were certain difficulties, because of which it was necessary to increase the construction time and, consequently, the costs. The final budget was 288 million pesetas, but the club intended to cover all expenses due to the sale of the site of another stadium. Here, too, there were some unpleasant moments. The municipality of the country was delayed for ten years with the transfer of land to another level, which entailed a temporary shortage of funds. After experiencing all the unfavorable moments, the stadium of Barcelona "Camp Nou" was still open, and it happened on September 24, 1957. The players went to play a new place. Those fans who previously did not have enough seats in the stadium "Les Corts", now got a chance to watch the matches of your favorite team. Two years later, artificial lighting was discovered, which was another good news for football fans.
In 1971, the indoor sports hall, which adjoins the arena "Camp Nou", opened its doors. There, players take part in sports such as basketball, volleyball and handball. Among other things, ice hockey competitions often take place in the ice palace, which is next door.
A few years later, the "Camp Nou" -stadion pleased the visitors with one more innovation, namely the electronic scoreboard on the second tier. In 1999, the complex received a five-star status.
