Brick weaving: step-by-step instructions and tips for doing

Technique of brick weaving with beads allows you to create original decorations for decorating the interior and wearing it, suspension pendants and accessories. Especially this style is suitable for performing complex elements, geometric shapes.

The finished product is distinguished by its accuracy, density and good resistance to mechanical damage. But even if you receive it, the creation will not crumble and it will not break completely, that is, it will be easy to restore it.

Brick weaving for beginners

This technique originated among the tribes of North and South America, similar products were created on the African continent. Today, it is a favorite among residents of Europe and Russia jewelry, which is attributed to the ethnic style: elongated earrings, necklace-collars, patterned bracelets.

This weaving successfully combines with other techniques, which is especially evident from the photographs of the works created by the craftsmen of Ecuador. They are very skillful and original, so many needlewomen, undoubtedly, would like to be able to do such things on their own.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like any other technique, a brick weave has its advantages and disadvantages. On the positive points have already been said at the beginning of the article. It:

  • The convenience of creating complex patterns and irregular shapes;
  • Saving the line by minimizing the passage through one bead;
  • Strength of the finished jewelry.

Disadvantages are very small and are limited by increased consumption of time resources:

  • The process of weaving is more labor-intensive in comparison with mosaic technique;
  • Not suitable for elastic products;
  • It takes quite a lot of time for beginners who are not used to such a sequence of actions.

About the materials

Brick weaving literally does not tolerate a poor-quality Chinese beads - the result of its application will not please even an unbiased person. Therefore, it is recommended to buy Czech or Japanese products, even if it is somewhat more expensive.

To use it in trial work is exactly it, so as not to be disappointed in the result and not regret about the time wasted. The line is also not worth saving.

Brick Stitch

For the sample you will need:

  • Beads of two colors (dark and light);
  • Special needle;
  • Thin fishing line (170 cm), for strength you can take a fishing line;
  • Sharp scissors.

The process is step by step:

  1. String two beads, leaving a piece of fishing line about 10 cm free. It needs to be passed through beads a second time for fastening.
  2. Dial the bead, the running end of the line (with the needle) through the hole of the adjacent element up and down - through the added one, so that the thread lies in two layers.
  3. Repeat the steps until the test series has reached the desired length.
  4. To better understand the brick weaving (the weaving scheme is presented below), for the next stage it is required to take beads of a different color.
  5. Again, dial two beads, the running end of the line to pass under the upper loop that connects each element of the first row.
  6. Stronger tighten the beads, pull the thread up through the hole of the last strung.
  7. All subsequent ranks are woven along this principle. When the test piece is ready, you will need to create another one to go to the next step.

Joining of cloth

This action is performed in a manner similar to the weaving of a new row and somewhat resembles the cross-linking of cloth flakes. This stage takes very little time, because you do not have to type the beads, and it's much easier to get into the holes of the fixed elements. Upon completion of work, the running line of the line will need to be fixed.

The brick weaving (the principal weaving scheme is shown) is obtained very dense and, if the yarn tension is too strong, it can not bend. Therefore, to carry out bracelets and necklaces is to use a strong elastic or other elastic material.

Advice

Even the experienced master of the recommendation will never be superfluous. For beginners they are required twice.

  • To narrow the edges of the canvas, at the beginning of the row, only one bead is picked up. If you want to reduce the midline, beads are weaved through two loops connecting the lower beads. Thus, it is as if between them, and an offset is obtained from the beginning of the series.
  • To increase the edge of the canvas, two more beads are picked up and one is added, hooked on the protruding line of the line. In order to lengthen the row inside the weave, several elements are successively added to one loop.
  • To fix the end of the line, it is passed through the beads in any order, but the more confusing the better. The rest of the thread is cut off, knots do not tie. This algorithm of actions is repeated also in the event that the fiber ends during operation. The new fishing line is arbitrarily carried out through beads, thus securing.

Brick weave has many fans, it can be found a lot of video lessons, telling how to create flowers and volume objects in this technique. Therefore, none of those who want to learn, of course, will not remain deprived.
