Breeds of cocks: description and photo

The breeds of chickens and roosters differ in all their diversity according to the main features: the exterior, size, temperament, productive and decorative qualities. Selective work in this direction has been carried out since the days of Ancient Egypt and today has stepped far ahead. The best achievements in breeding new breeds are the work of the specialists of the Eastern countries, the impetus for which was the birth of the cult of cockfighting.

Description of fighting breeds of cocks

Roosters of the fighting breed are the oldest among the existing breeds. At different sizes (from 500 grams to 7 kg) the bird looks impressively and is characterized by:

  • Muscular strong chest;
  • Strong long legs;
  • Powerful head on a long neck;
  • Solid solid beak;
  • Aggressive character that allows you to quickly attack the enemy in the struggle for their own lives.

Types of cocks in style fighting

According to the style of combat, the breeds of fighting cocks are conditionally divided into 4 types:

  • Direct . At a meeting immediately rushes to the opponent and with a strong blow beats him in the chest or head.
  • It's spinning . He throws a couple of blows with the opponent, then turns around, starts "circling" (running around in a circle), then suddenly again throws himself at the opponent, and, not letting the latter come to himself, again runs away. Thus, exhausts the opponent, due to what often wins.
  • The messenger . Do not run around in circles, but intercepts the opponent in a straight line and beats directly to the back of the head.
  • The thievish . It is very appreciated, as it competently conducts battle tactics: it tries to remove the head from under the blow, goes to the feet, hides under the enemy's wing, than knocks the latter from the tempo. He himself catches the right moment and strikes.

Roosters of different breeds can be fighters from birth and fight, using all tactics. Sometimes it seems that these universal warriors, depending on the style of the opponent, reflect on which of them to apply to win.

A characteristic feature of the fighting breed of roosters is a scant plumage, which causes a bad heat retention by the body. Therefore, it is recommended to keep such birds in a heated room. A key condition for the care of fighting cocks are high-protein foods.
