Botticelli's painting "Spring" - one of the most amazing works of painting

The era of the Renaissance of Culture, to the picturesque masterpieces of which the Botticelli painting "Spring" refers, most clearly manifested itself in the north of Italy, in the major cultural centers - Florence, Venice. It was here that new ideas emerged, based on the wisdom of the ancient Greeks, Plato, Pythagoras, Homer and Virgil, addressed to man's earthly world, to his spiritual quest (despite the scholastic theology of the theologians of the Middle Ages). This was the era of the birth of a surprising phenomenon, later called the Renaissance, or the Renaissance, which for several centuries determined the way of development of philosophy, literature, painting and sculpture.

Sandro Botticelli was born in 1444 (1445) in Florence, where he lived his entire life, the date of death refers to one source by 1510, others by 1515. His real name was Filippe, and Botticelli - the name of the jeweler, whose future artist worked as an apprentice. Florence in those days was the center of new ideas, and Botticelli as the greatest artist could not stay away, embodying the new philosophy of the early Renaissance in its amazing beauty and touching canvases.

Botticelli's painting "Spring" was written in 1477 (1478) on a tree with oil and tempera. It is known that he was ordered by one of the Medici as a wedding present to his brother. Then the mention of it as a part of the decoration of the Medici Palace is found in 1638. And since 1815 the painting "Spring" by Botticelli is one of the most valuable exhibits of the collection of paintings of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.

The plot of the picture is deeply mythological, in each of its characters, in every pictorial element one of the basic ideas of the Renaissance is ciphered - everything on the Earth is subordinated to love, which is of divine origin and is the source of earthly rebirth, a symbol of spring. Composite cloth is divided into three parts. The central image is taken by the image of Venus, the goddess of love, who blesses everything that is happening around her. Above her hovers an unchanging companion - a cupid with blindfolded eyes, an arrow and a bow. In the left part of the canvas is depicted the mythological hero Mercury - the messenger of the gods, the teacher of wisdom, dispersing the clouds. There are also three graces - the suite of the goddess Venus - swirling in the dance. They, holding hands tightly and creating an inseparable connection, personify beauty, chastity and bliss - what accompanies love in its higher manifestations.

On the right in Botticelli's painting "Spring" is a plot of the myth about the wind of Zephyr and the nymph Chloris, whom he abducted and made his wife. Awakened in Chloris, love turned her into the goddess of Spring, showering the earth with flowers. It is drawn here, next to the figures of Zephyr and Chloris, in colorful clothes with bright cornflowers, symbolizing good nature, with wreaths on the neck and head, in which are interwoven chamomile and buttercups - signs of loyalty and wealth.

The amazing color of the work of Sandro Botticelli "Spring" as if woven from fragrant flowers, which generously showered her heroine earth. On the dark background of orange trees, the light figures of the characters in tender flowing robes look especially attractive, their faces and appearance, despite the divine belonging, are very earthy, touching. Painting Botticelli "Spring" still remains one of the most amazing paintings of not only the Renaissance, but all subsequent times.
