History of the club

The history of Boca Juniors dates back to 1905, when the club was formed by five immigrants from Italy in the working area of La Boca, the city of Buenos Aires. Since 1931 (the birth of the professional football league of Argentina) the team has become the national champion 24 times, six times won the Libertadores Cup and three times - the Intercontinental Cup. In different years, stars such as Diego Maradona, Juan Roman Riquelme, Martin Palermo, Claudio Canigia, Ezequiel Lavessi, Clemente Rodriguez, Carlos Tevez played in the "yellow-blue".

Stadium

Home matches "Boca Juniors" is held at the stadium "Estadio Alberto Armando" built in 1940 and accommodating 49,000 spectators. The current name of the building was received in honor of the president of the club, in which the team in the 70-80s of the last century achieved the most striking successes in its history. Another name of the stadium - "Bombonera" - is connected with the shape of the stands, resembling a box of chocolates. Thanks to the fact that "Boca" is the most popular football club in Argentina, the fans regularly fill places in the arena. A special agitation happens when the derby of Boca Juniors - River Plate is held.

Argentine "superclassico"

The history of the confrontation between the two teams goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. It was then in 1901 in the area of La Bocca, the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, the football club River Plate was formed. After a while, as we remember, Boka Juniors was also born there. A little later, the two teams began to closely exist side by side and it was decided to hold a test match, after which the losing side will forever leave the area of La Boca.

"River Plate" lost and moved to Italy first, and then returned to the country and from 1925 settled in the Nunes area in the north of the Argentine capital. Between the teams met 352 times. Of these, 127 wins were won by the players of Boca Juniors. In 112 games, success was celebrated by "River Plate", and 113 times was recorded a draw.

Uncompromising struggle on the football field sometimes pours out and beyond. So, in 1968 at the "River Plate" stadium during the match there were riots in the stands, during which 71 fans were killed and more than 150 were seriously injured. In May 2015, in a match of the 1/8 finals of the Libertadores Cup, a fan of the Boca Juniors club in a subtiboon room sprayed pepper gas from which five River Plate players were injured. For such actions the fan of "Estadio Alberto Armando" was disqualified for four games, and the club was removed from the tournament.

Academy of the club

The pride of "Boca Juniors" is undoubtedly the club football academy. More than 350 boys from 7 to 21 years old are members of different age groups of the school. Every day there is a viewing of gifted children on three natural and one artificial lawn bases. Throughout the country there is a network of scouts of the club, which searches for boys who are in love with football. "Boka Juniors" annually concludes a contract with 7-8 graduates of the academy, who will continue to forge the glory of the club. Graduates of the school are such stars as Juan Roman Riquelme and Carlos Tevez, Nicholas Gaytan and Fernando Gago.
