Kemerovo: historical and cultural monuments

Acquaintance with the city is impossible without acquaintance with its cultural, architectural and historical monuments. What sights can be seen in the city of Kemerovo? Read in this review!

Monument "Memory to the miners"

It is difficult to imagine the main city of Kuzbass without monuments to miners. Kemerovo is the coal capital of the region. That is why the city has a monument dedicated to representatives of this industry. The author of the monument is Ernst Neizvestny.

The history of the creation of the monument is noteworthy. It was a long time ago to mark the significance of the work of miners. For the first time this issue was discussed in 1969 by the Council of Ministers. The name of the monument was already invented, sketches were ready. But it was not possible to implement the plan. The situation changed only after several decades. Then the governor of the region, Aman Tuleev, first met with Neizvestny, whose works were already installed not only in the territory of the Russian Federation, but also in ten other countries of the world.

Initially, the monument was conceived as a mournful reminder of the miners who died in the mines of Kuzbass. But Ernst Neizvestny defined the theme of the work a little differently. He told me that the main idea that the composition carries in itself is resistance and heroism. After all, it is precisely self-sacrificing work, equated to the military one, that distinguishes miners from specialists in other industries.

Opening of the monument took place in 2003 right on the Day of the miner - on August 28. The place for installation was chosen by the author. Ernst decided that the best place for his creation is Krasnaya Gorka. By the way, the sculptor came to Kemerovo from New York to take part in the opening ceremony.

Memorial of Glory Warriors

Glory in the Kuzbass not only miners, but also Soviet soldiers. There is in Kemerovo a monument dedicated to the soldiers who fell in battles for their Motherland in the Second World War. Opened it on Victory Day in 1970. Architect Andrei Kovalchuk and sculptor Alexander Shcherbakov worked on the project. The height of the monument is 18 meters. It is made of Crimean limestone. And the borders and steps are made of gray granite.

The place for the installation of the monumental composition was the beginning of the Spring Street. Pritomskaya embankment is a favorite place for kemerovo people to go for walks. And that's why the monument was placed here. He is a warrior in a helmet and a greatcoat holding a banner, and a young soldier with a gun in his hand. Before the monument there is a star in which the "Eternal Flame" burns.

Monument-locomotive L3238

Guests of the city at the station square are greeted by a monument-locomotive. It was installed in 2006 in honor of the Railway Worker Day. To the place of its "eternal" parking, the locomotive, which was built in 1953, came its own way. Previously, he was at the station Topki.

Where was this black giant made, which became a monument of the city of Kemerovo? Of course, at the Voroshilovgrad plant. Released steam locomotives cruised throughout the Kemerovo region, but just like other locomotives, they gave way to modern locomotives. Several decades Elka conducted on the basis of the reserve. Finally, I waited for my stardom!

Monument to Mikhailo Volkov

There is a monument in Kemerovo dedicated to one of the key historical figures of the city - Mihailo Volkov. It was this man who in 1721 discovered on the territory of the modern city deposits of coal. This discovery was the main thing in the development of the region.

It is worth noting that the monument is a collective image of Volkov. When the sculptor Georgy Baranov set to work, it became clear that practically no information about the appearance of the traveler was preserved. As a result, from the hands of the author came a strong and courageous man, pressing to his chest a unique find - coal. This monument was established in Kemerovo in 1968 in front of the Kuzbass Technical University - specialists in the coal industry are trained in this educational institution.

Monument to Russian hockey

One of the most unusual monuments of the city of Kemerovo is a monument dedicated to Russian hockey. It was installed in 2007 - when the first World Championship on this unusual sport was opened. The creation of the art object was initiated by the fans. They appealed to the administration of the region, where their idea was accepted and helped to implement. There is a monument at the stadium "Chemist". It consists of two parts: three clubs and a huge orange hollow ball, whose diameter is 2.5 meters! By the way, the ball is made up of seven thousand real balls.

Monument to a stray dog

There are also social monuments in the city. For example, a sculpture depicting a homeless dog. In Kemerovo, the monument appeared in 2008, the means for manufacturing were collected by not indifferent townspeople.

The author - Valery Vasilievich Treska - created a simply heartbreaking composition: a man-hungry stray dog cuddles to the cover of the sewer manhole. In addition, the monument is supplemented with a tablet with a poem calling for Kemerovo residents to be more humane and to reduce the number of stray animals.

Family of penguins

In 2010, the city took part in the All-Russian competition called "City without cruelty to children." Then the monument "Family of penguins" from foam concrete appeared in Kemerovo. Each figure weighs about 140 kg, and their size is 90 cm. The author of the composition - young Kemerovo sculptor Maxim Vrublevsky - admitted that the penguins chose not by chance: it is known that these animals are exemplary family men.
