Berezovskaya GRES - two stations, two countries

In the CIS, two power plants, called Berezovskie, have been built and are in operation. One - in Belarus, the second - in Siberia.

Berezovskaya GRES (Krasnoyarsk Territory) is one of the first large thermal power plants operating on the coals of the Kansko-Achinsk basin, located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory of the Russian Federation. The power plant is located at a distance of 14 km from the coal mine, in which mining is conducted in an open pit. This method of extraction provides a small cost of coal. Given that the cost of electricity produced at a power plant, the price of fuel - this is half the price of electricity, the price of 1 kW / hour is not high.

Berezovskaya GRES was designed in the late 70's. Construction began in 1980. In 1987, the first 800 MW power unit was commissioned, in 1990 - the second power unit, also 800 MW. The entire capacity of the station under the original design was to be 6400 MW.

The KATEK project was supposed to build a group of eight of the most powerful IES, each with a capacity of 6,400 MW on the basis of brown coal from this coal basin. Electricity produced on the transmission lines of ultrahigh voltage should have been received by the cities of Siberia, the Urals and the Center of the European part of the USSR. Note that Soviet projects were only partially built, but what they managed to build, still surprises. The modern Berezovskaya GRES, with a capacity of 1,600 MW, has a chimney with a height of 370 m (in the Guinness Book of Records). The construction of the third 800 MW unit is nearing completion, which will significantly increase the station's capacity. Further development is hampered by weak power lines. To increase efficiency Beryozovskaya GRES is transferred to the category of CHP by expanding the heating network.

Beryozovskaya GRES (Belarus) is the largest IES in the country. It is located near Brest, on the shore of the lake. White, which is used as a source of water and as a pond-cooler for waste water. The capacity of the Berezovskaya GRES is 900 MW. At the station there are six power units of 150 MW each. Construction started in 1958, the last unit began to provide electricity in 1967. Donbass coal and seasonal surpluses of natural gas were used as fuel. The initial project was to use a gas-oil mixture as fuel. To remove 99% purified flue gas, two pipes 100 and 180 m were built.

Belovskaya GRES is located in the center of the Kuznetsk coal basin in the Kemerovo region of the Russian Federation. The center of the Kuzbass was chosen because this area needed a lot of electricity, and in its territory, nearby, there was not a single power station.

The construction of this facility lasted more than 8 years. The first unit was launched in 1964. There are 6 power units at the station, each 200 MW each. The capacity of additional heat supply is 125 Gcal / h.

In 2010, the Belovskaya GRES started the process of modernization. An agreement was signed with the OJSC Power Machines for the manufacture and installation of two new 225 MW turbines. These turbines will replace the spent units at the 4th and 6th power units. The first replacement at the 4th unit is planned for the end of 2013, the second - at the 6th block - at the end of 2014. As a result of this update, the station will increase its reliability and increase the production of electricity.
