Basic methods of water treatment

Methods of water treatment today are quite an urgent issue. After all, water - an integral part of life as a person, and all of humanity. That is why modern science is constantly working on the creation of new methods of purification.

Methods of water purification primarily depend on the quantity and quality of the liquid to be purified. For example, in industry, some methods are used, and at home, it is possible to clean running water quite differently.

Industrial methods of water treatment

Water, taken from reservoirs or underground sources, passes through a purification system before it enters the water supply. These methods are also used in the purification of sewage, which are an integral part of the work of any industrial plant or factory.

  1. Mechanical methods of water treatment . The very name of the method indicates which target is being pursued here. With the help of a variety of filters, water is purified from unnecessary and harmful particles. To begin with, the liquid enters the filter surface, from where it passes through all the loading filter material, thus particles of a certain size are retained. But if you can get rid of relatively large contaminants with the help of this method, then filters can not save bacteria and small organic particles.
  2. Chlorination of water . A fairly well-known method of purification, which allows disinfection of water. But this technique also has its own drawback, which everyone knows about. It's simply impossible to drink such water.
  3. Ozonation . A relatively new and sufficiently effective method of purifying water, which allows you to get rid of organic residues. Ozone is also considered a very strong disinfectant. Unfortunately, this method is rather expensive and only begins to gain popularity.

Unfortunately, the water that houses and apartments are provided for is not always of high quality. That's why you need to think about how to make it better at home.

Ways of water treatment at home

As a rule, with water flowing from the tap, there are some problems. First, it contains the salts of magnesium and calcium, which make it hard. Another danger is the presence of unnecessary products of organic decomposition, including nitrites and ammonia. Also in water, iron and manganese admixtures may be present - this liquid acquires a yellowish color. Most often, the rust in the water is the result of its movement through the old pipes. And, of course, one of the main problems is chlorine.

But the water can be cleaned and made usable independently. There are several very effective and common ways.

  1. Defending. In order for the water to become clean, it must be placed in a container and allowed to settle for at least 24 hours. During this time about 90% of the chlorine will escape from the liquid. If a reddish precipitate forms on the bottom, the water must be filtered out. But this method does not work if the liquid is saturated with bacteria and microscopic algae.
  2. Boiling. This method allows you to significantly soften the water, as the salts of magnesium and calcium simply settle on the walls of the dishes. During the boiling from the liquid all chlorine will evaporate. In addition, high temperatures will help to destroy most of the living microorganisms. But if there is a high level of organic substances in the water, it can not be boiled, since the nitrogen compounds will quickly react with chlorine.
  3. Household filters for water treatment. To date, we offer a huge selection of a wide variety of filters. The work of passive filters is based on simple filtration, when a part of the polluting particles simply settles in the pores. By the way, activated carbon is often used as a filling for such a filter .

There are active filters containing a certain number of substances. These substances with the passage of water react with pollutants, thus neutralizing them.

It should be noted that the filter for water should be chosen very carefully. First of all, direct the problem of your water, be it rigidity or the presence of organic matter.
