Asymmetry of the face: a fine line between the norm and pathology

In animate nature, there are no perfectly symmetrical "things", this also applies to the human body, for which its specific characteristics and differences also are characteristic. A good proof of this are the hands, one of which is endowed with great opportunities (the ability to write, draw, draw) in comparison with another, and also the visual difference of the feet also indicates elements of organic asymmetry. However, the above examples are a kind of norm, whereas facial asymmetry often becomes the main factor of serious psychological and physiological disorder.

However, here again one should feel the fine line of norm and pathology, since completely symmetrical faces are practically absent in nature, and a mild violation of the usual proportions falls within the limits of what is permitted and gets a harmonious name "image personality". It has already become a common occurrence when the right side of the face is slightly wider with sharper features, the left half has an elongated shape in the vertical axis and has softer, smoothed contours. In this regard, many people, knowing the features of their own face, are trying to take a more profitable perspective in the photo. However, a completely objective question arises, and when such a phenomenon is considered anomalous?

There are clear medical indicators that need to be taken into account. What is meant: the pathological asymmetry of the face is diagnosed only in the case when there is a visual disturbance of the usual proportions, equal to 2-3 mm in linear measurements and 3-5 degrees in angular coordinates.

A very interesting phenomenon is the asymmetry of the face, the causes of which can be very different. So, in science, there are 25 factors that determine this anomaly. Here it is important to understand that the asymmetry of a person can be both congenital, that is, caused by the characteristic specificity of the structure of the skull, and acquired, which arose against a background of progressive pathology. If we talk about the congenital form, then the hereditary factor, as well as the pathology of intrauterine development of the fetus, is of great importance here. After birth, such signs may remain unobtrusive, and sometimes, on the contrary, give the person gross defects. With this it is clear, then why does the asymmetry of the face already have a formed organism?

The main causes are various diseases, in particular, inflammation of the facial nerve, impaired vision, dental diseases, torticollis in children, and also it can occur against the background of the transferred operations, heart attacks and strokes. Also, we should not exclude our own facial expressions. As you know, each person is dominated by certain mimic habits, for example, narrowing one eye, raising one eyebrow, a twisted grin in one direction, which can eventually develop an irreversible asymmetry of the face, therefore, such "dangerous" grimaces should be eliminated in a timely manner.

Violation of the proportions does not always require the participation of a specialist, very often the patient himself can correct his own defects of the face with the help of simple gymnastics and facial massage, which will significantly accelerate and strengthen the muscle tone of the facial musculature. Many ladies are advantageously masked by skillful make-up and correctly chosen hair, however, in case of serious physiological disturbances, consultation of an experienced medical worker is necessary. If the asymmetry of the face is diagnosed, the treatment, first of all, is to find the cause, and then in its immediate elimination. In extreme cases, you can resort to the services of cosmetic surgery, which in this situation can work wonders and in the shortest possible time will save from such an anomaly as the asymmetry of the face.
