Anabel - hydrangea for all gardens. Planting hydrangeas Anabel and caring for her

One of the most popular decorative shrubs is still hydrangea. The love of gardeners is primarily due to the amazingly luxuriant flowering, huge leaves (up to 30 cm in length) and relative unpretentiousness in care. Most species prefer a warm climate, which makes it difficult to grow shrubs, for example, in the middle belt or in the Urals. However, the Anabel-Hydrangea variety is quite frost-hardy. Her cultivation does not cause much trouble.

Variety description

If compared with other varieties and varieties, then Anabel has, perhaps, the most spreading bush of a spherical shape. Escapes are formed a lot, which creates the impression of splendor. The height varies depending on the natural conditions and can reach 1-1.5 m, and in width up to 3 m. The flowers of the hydrangea are small, only 2 cm in diameter. But the thing is that they are collected in spectacular globular inflorescences, which can be up to 30 cm in volume. Flowering begins in the middle or end of June and lasts until September. Anabel - hydrangea-long-liver, and one bush can please you more than one decade, which is also an indisputable plus.

This variety is very versatile in terms of landscape design. A place for hydrangeas can be found on any site. Perfectly combined with conifers, irises, roses. If desired, you can even make a real living wall from it, which will be covered with fragrant white flowers from year to year.

There is one more variety of this variety - it is hydrangea Pink Anabel. It differs not only in a pink shade of flowers, but also with stronger and more resistant to the wind shoots, increased frost resistance. Care is the same as for Hydrangea Anabel with white flowers.

How to choose a place for planting?

First of all, it should be noted that the planting of an Anabel hydrangea or any other variety should be carried out in the spring (in May) or in the fall (in September), the first option being preferable. Saplings buy in specialized stores, pay attention to the root system. Hortensia at the time of planting can have buds, but should not bloom. The optimal age of seedlings is 2-3 years.

Choose for a bush a place, sheltered from drafts, in the penumbra, where the direct rays of the sun are only a few hours a day. Nearby there should not be too large trees, as they will take away moisture.

Hortensia tree-like Anabel is not too demanding for soils, but still prefers acidic and with good water permeability, drained.

Preparation of a landing site

After the place for planting is chosen, it is necessary to dig a pit. The size depends on the seedling, about 50 x 50 cm and the same depth. Hydrangeas have a superficial root system. If you make a group landing, the distance between the seedlings should be about two meters.

In a ready pit it is recommended to pour a few buckets of water (4-5) and leave overnight so that it absorbs. Further to the bottom, a small drainage layer is filled, and then prepared nutrient soil (leaf earth, peat, humus and sand in equal amounts). In no case do not add lime and wood ash, hydrangea treelike Anabel does not like it.

In a well-moistened soil, lower the seedling and sprinkle it so that the root neck was at the soil level. The earth must be densely packed and watered again. The circumferential primer must then afterwards be wrapped. Use peat, sawdust, conifer needle or lapnik, and also foliage. If you have a lawn, then you can apply the grass, which is in sufficient quantities after its mowing. Mulching protects the hydrangea roots from overheating and restricts the growth of weeds, besides, the organics eventually rot and acidify the soil, which is very useful for the plant.

Hydrangea Anabel: care

The shrub grows fast enough. Care hydrangea is the timely watering, loosening and mulching the soil, pruning.

The plant is very hygrophilous, the fact that it lacks water will be testified to slightly wilted leaves. The best option for watering is 1-2 times a week, 3-4 buckets for each bush. It is desirable that it be gradual and slow, for example, a drip irrigation system. The frequency of irrigation can be reduced to one in 10 days, if the soil is covered up. It is best to do this in the spring and several times during the summer, without forgetting to slightly loosen the soil in the circumferential circle.

Anabel - hydrangea, who loves top dressing, they need it for prolonged and abundant flowering. The first time fertilizers are introduced next spring after planting. For one square meter is recommended the following composition of fertilizing:

  • 40 g superphosphate;
  • 20 g of urea;
  • 30 g of potassium sulfate.

You can use ready - made complex fertilizers, for example "Kemira-flowers", while strictly follow the instructions. At the time when hydrangea Anabel collects buds, the second top dressing (50 g superphosphate and 30 g potassium sulfate) is carried out. In addition, it is recommended to water the shrub 2-3 times during the summer with a weak (light pink) solution of potassium permanganate.

Anabel - hydrangea is quite resistant to various diseases, but it can sometimes be damaged by a spider mite, downy mildew, chlorosis of leaves or aphids. All cases require treatment with special medications.

Formation of hydrangea bush

Pruning is subject only to shrubs older than five years, until this time, they do not need to be touched. The best time is early spring. Adult shoots are cut to 10-20 cm, and annuals can be shortened by 1/3 of the length. Removing is subject to broken, old and often growing branches. Do not cut weak bushes, since spring is a time of active sap flow, and a diseased plant can die.

Reproduction of hydrangea

Hortensia Anabel very successfully propagates in a vegetative way - cuttings and layers. In the first case, young shoots are used. Cuttings 10-15 cm long must be cut during the hydrangea bloom. Then slightly dry the cut, treat with "Kornevin" and root in a light fertile soil. To form roots, cuttings need high humidity and a temperature of 20-25 degrees. In the second case, a strong and healthy shoot is buried from autumn. Already next spring he will give the roots and form a separate bush.
