Allergies in newborns: causes and effects

Nowadays, an allergy is a mass phenomenon, and almost every person in its life has come across it. It is considered to be autoimmune diseases, and its nature and causes are not yet fully understood - in principle, this applies to the majority of autoimmune diseases. Very often, allergy in newborns has also become: it can be both food and contact, less often - dust or smells. Allergies in newborns are difficult to treat, even symptomatic, since most antihistamines are potent and seriously affect the liver, and effective allergy ointments often contain a hormonal component, which is also not desirable at this age.

Allergy in newborns is usually manifested in the form of skin rashes, mainly on the face and under the diaper, but in more complex cases, the entire body surface can be affected. Also, such severe allergic reactions as Quincke's edema, asthmatic attacks, fever and even anaphylactic shock are likely . In infancy, when a baby eats only milk or a mixture, the cause of the allergy is more or less clear - it is an allergy to milk or to a mixture. In the case of breastfeeding, allergy is most likely caused by some component of the mother's diet, and it is worthwhile to make some efforts to identify it and exclude it from the diet. Sometimes, however, it happens that there is an allergy to the mother's milk as such, but these cases are extremely rare and concern, in the main, ecologically unfavorable areas.

In the case of artificial feeding, allergy is clearly caused by some component of the mixture, but before switching to another mixture, it does not hurt to make tests for the allergen - after all, frequent changes in baby food can only aggravate the situation. Usually such a component is lactose or milk protein of cow's milk, then lactose-free, soy, and maybe sour-milk mixes - after all, the protein there already in curdled form and allergies may not cause: usually those people who are allergic to milk, Quite suitable kefir or yogurt. In general, in this case, you will have to exclude cow's milk from the baby's diet until at least three years of age, but recently it is recommended to do so even to those who do not have allergies. After a three-year age, infant allergies often recede, but only on the condition that there was no contact with the allergen before it, so do not think that the allergy in the baby will necessarily pass into adulthood: even if it remains after three years, it is most likely in Adolescence, her child will "outgrow".

It is not necessary at the first appearance of a rash on the cheeks of the baby on the cheeks of the rash immediately translate it into therapeutic hypoallergenic mixtures: this should only be done by a doctor and only on the basis of laboratory research, since they do not fully provide adequate nutrition, but are an extreme measure when everything else is already tried . It may well be that it is enough to use a sour-milk or lactose-free mixture, and the allergy will not return - but tests for an allergen are still necessary. Soy, as such, is itself an allergen, and the transition to such mixtures is possible only if there is a complete rejection of milk in principle.

Why there is an allergy in newborns? This issue remains open, as doctors have not yet identified the cause of allergies per se. The most popular hypothesis is that the allergy appears in an environment of excessive sterility due to an insufficient load on immunity, which still has to "work" with something. This explains the fact that the absolute majority of allergy sufferers are urban dwellers, and with the development of the benefits of civilization, their number is steadily growing. This does not mean that you have to indulge in piggish and slovenliness - you'll still have to wash your hands, but excessive desire for absolute cleanliness with indispensable boiling and ironing of everything can be just as harmful as unsanitary: an adequate load on immunity, most likely, Is necessary.
