Alexander Gusev: an effective defender

On January 21, 1947, the Russian capital embraced another small citizen. Gusev Alexander Vladimirovich - the future legend of world hockey appeared.

Childhood of the hockey player

On the ice rink Sasha appeared for the first time at the age of four. The future conqueror of big sports came out on the ice on beautiful skates, bought by the father abroad. Soon little Alexander Gusev already perfectly kept his balance on the ice. A little older, Sasha began to seriously think about the big sport. He, like many boys of that time, really wanted to get into the ranks of the hockey team of the Moscow army. But the first attempt to become a pupil of CSKA was not very successful. The army coach, looking at Alexander in the game, decided that the boy still needs to grow up a bit for hockey. However, Sasha, always distinguished by excessive persistence, turned to his mother with a request for help. His parent worked at that time as an accountant in an army club. So Alexander was in the ranks of the children's and youth team of CSKA.

Youth years

Soon the club's management decided to send Gusev and Kharlamov for an internship in Chebarkul. Thanks to two young hockey players, the Ural team soon moved to a higher division.

In 1965, a long-awaited event takes place in the life of an athlete. Alexander Gusev finally turns out to be included in the main part of the army team. From this moment, the career of a promising young defender begins to grow rapidly. As part of the army club in Moscow Alexander seven times won the hockey championship of the Soviet Union, won three times silver medals and also won the USSR Cup three times.

Team Games

Alexander Gusev was remembered by the fans of hockey not only as a brilliant game held in the CSKA squad, but also at no less beautiful performances for the national team of his native country. The older fans of the game with the puck still remember how Gusev repeatedly rescued the team in the most crucial matches. One of the most successful games of a hockey player is still considered a duel against the Swedish national team during the tournament organized by the newspaper Izvestia. It was Gusev who managed to score the victorious puck into the opponent's goal.

Another memorable game was the meeting with the Canadian team in the 1974 super series. The USSR team for a long time acted as a catch-up on the field. But Gusev managed to restore the balance in the score, scoring so necessary for his team puck.

Two years later Alexander became the owner of gold at the Olympic Games, where he also played matches in a formidable "red car" (that's what all the hockey fans called the unbeatable national team of the Soviet Union at that time).

Wise maturity

1977 was one of the most unsuccessful for the Soviet national hockey team. After suffering a double fiasco from Sweden at the World Cup, the head coach Boris Kulagin decides to resign. He leaves the post of not only the head of the national team, but also leaves the coaching chair of the army team, at the helm of which he was for many years.

The new head coach of CSKA is Viktor Tikhonov, who from the first days begins to produce a real revolution in orderly army ranks. The mentor of the capital's army decided to update the order of the grown-up team. Many players, whose age has already stepped far beyond thirty, had to leave army sweaters and retire to a well-deserved rest.

Alexander Gusev did not become a general exception to the rules. His dear second number, he leaves the rising star of the army, Vyacheslav Fetisov, and he himself leaves for the Leningrad club SKA, which occupies far from the most leading positions in the national hockey championship. However, an easy-going character store does not allow the hockey meter to keep evil against the deserved coach of the USSR. According to Gusev, this decision was just a usual necessity.

Trainer and major

Worthy performing the season for the club of the northern capital, Gusev earned the rank of major and was able to finish the WFFF, where he received two higher educations at once. Now Alexander could stand at the helm of the hockey team, and also command the army battalion. The commander of the detachment to the former sportsman never happened, but he was able to become a real commander-in-chief for the players of the Tver ice hockey club SKA MVO.

Alexander Gusev: hockey player-bully

Gusev was not accidentally famous among his colleagues in the hockey shop as a real ice bully. According to the athlete himself, he did not like to play on the field only as a defender. He liked to connect to his team during the attack, create dangerous situations near someone else's penalty area and, of course, with the best of luck, hit the opponents' gate. Alexander could not stand and obvious injustice on the field. His rightness, he defended, like most hockey players, with a stick, which served as the only weapon in the fight with the players of the opposing team.

Biography Gusev Alexander may seem at first glance a little attention. However, the statistics with which CSKA player came to the end of his career, can even hit foreign masters of hockey. Gusev Alexander Vladimirovich - Hockey player with a capital letter. On the athlete's account there are 64 washers scored in 313 meetings in the national championship. In international meetings Gusev was noted by twelve washers. These indicators are more than decent for the player of the defensive line.

The 60th anniversary of the famous player of the USSR national team was congratulated by the Russian President Vladimir Putin himself.

At this point in time Gusev Alexander Vladimirovich is a player of the team "Legends of Hockey", with which he traveled almost the whole country. Free from training time, he devotes to caring for his grandson, as well as dacha affairs.
