"Akuna Matata" - what is it and how is it translated?

Often children chant songs from cartoons, even if they do not know the meaning of the text. One of the similar melodies is the soundtrack from the animated television series "Timon and Pumba". What is "Akuna Matata" and who it sings, you can learn from this article. We remind you that the animated multiseries has been a success for many years, thanks to the light story and the extraordinary main characters.

What is Akuna Matata?

It is believed that the phrase came from Africa. In the translation "Akuna Matata" from Swahili means "life without worries." In the original, the expression is written in Latin letters as "Hakuna Matata". For the first time the song was sounded in the cartoon "The Lion King", where the first appeared Timon and Pumba. The two best friends constantly repeat this phrase, because they consider it their motto.

The creation of the song for the animation project was handled by Elton John along with Tim Rice. In 1994, when the cartoon "The Lion King" was released, the composition claimed the title "Best Song of the Year" according to the version of the "Oscar" award. Later the phrase "Akuna Matata" was used in the songs of the musical groups "Aquarium" and Boney M.

Timon

Like no other, Timon from the cartoon "The Lion King" knows what "Akuna Matata" is. Every day, together with his friend Pumbaa, he repeats this song. The guys remember how hard it was for them to live earlier, but now they are carefree.

After the release of the animation tape, the creators of the story decided to release a spin-off picture of Timon and Pumba. "Akuna Matata" has become even more popular.

We remind you that Timon is a surikat, in the Russian voice-over it is called a mongoose. He is very lazy and almost never helps anyone. At the same time, he is very cunning, clever and ingenious. Timon can come up with anything, just not to strain and not work. Despite all the shortcomings, the guy is very kind and sincere, always worried about his friends.

Pumbaa

Pumba also knows well the translation of the "Matas' Akuna", since, together with Timon, the ideas of "life without worries" follow. The hero is a representative of African warthogs. Unlike Timon, Pumbaa is very sincere and trustful. He does not always recognize deception, but if he finds out about lies, he is very offended. Pumbaa almost every day helps Timon, because in all the long travels, the mongoose rides around his friend's neck.

Despite all the softness of character, the boar is very angry in anger. He is almost always ready to stand up for Timon's defense, even if he himself is to blame for his problems. He also does not tolerate when someone considers him an ordinary pig. Pumba argues that if you really call it that, then only with the prefix "Mister".

Friends of the main characters

Cartoon "Akuna Matata" is noteworthy that on the screen basically only two characters, the remaining characters appear and act very rarely. Despite the fact that Timon and Pumba rarely communicate with someone else, they have several good friends.

One of them is the snail Shustrick. He, thanks to his comrades, also knows what "Akuna Matata" is, although it does not always adhere to the principles of their life. Heroes get acquainted with him in the first season of animated multi-series. First Timon and Pumba intend to eat Shustrick, but then they find out that he can talk and do not dare to kill him. Soon the guys meet a common enemy, which only rally them together.

In the second season, the main characters learn that Shustrick is not just an ordinary snail, he is a super-duper hero of X and constantly saves the world. Nevertheless, the guy is constantly kidnapped by seagulls, and then Timon and Pumba have to rush to his aid.

Another friend of the characters is Fur's Surikat. To be more precise, he is Timon's old friend. He constantly tries to play a trick on the guys, which rarely ends with something good.

The enemies of Timon and Pumbaa

Since Timon and Pumba constantly remind each other what Akuna Matata is and how they should live, the guys constantly get involved in problems. They also managed to make a lot of enemies.

One of the enemies of the protagonists of the cartoon is a man named Quint. He constantly tries on different roles to get to Timon and Pumba, and also to steal something. You can find out the guy by the big red nose.

Another enemy of the guys is Tukan Dan. This is a very dangerous criminal, whose guilt is almost impossible to prove, since he is able to get out of any situation. Also, the relationship between Timon and Pumba did not work with the Rhinoceros. The fact is that he is a judge who likes to invent laws independently.
