Adhesive 88 - technical specifications, scope and application methods

The domestic chemical industry produces various types of glue solutions. Most of them have a fairly wide range of applications. Huge popularity among consumers uses the universal adhesive 88. Due to its positive properties, it provides a reliable connection of even incompatible materials. What is the glue 88? Its purpose and technical characteristics you can learn by reading this article.

Composition and function

Adhesive 88 is a solution of a mixture of rubber, ethyl acetate, nephros and phenol-formaldehyde resin. The liquid has a viscous homogeneous consistency of gray-green or beige hue. It is allowed to form a precipitate.
It is intended such a means for gluing:
• rubber;
• metal;
• wood;
• polymeric and synthetic materials;
• Glass and ceramics;
• natural and artificial leather;
• Cardboard.

Specifications

Adhesive 88 has many positive qualities. Among them:
• heat resistance;
• vibration resistance;
• water resistance;
• the ability to provide instantaneous setting speed.
The seam of the glued products is plastic, not afraid of vibration, can withstand temperatures from -30 to + 90 ° C. In addition, it is water resistant to fresh and salt water. The glue is not toxic. It firmly and reliably connects incompatible materials in various combinations.

The most popular species

There are several varieties of this product. Each type has its own characteristics and designation. Among the most commonly used are the following markings:
1. Adhesive 88 SA - is intended for gluing fibrous and porous materials, as well as rubber and metal. The consumption per m 2 is 300 g.
2. 88 NP - is used for gluing rubber with concrete, plastic, metal, wood and leather. Possesses high qualities of moisture resistance. Used in automotive and residential construction.
3. 88 M - used in the repair of cars, motorcycles. Their characteristics exceed the above modifications. Excellent combines rubber with plastic, metal, concrete and other materials.
More detailed features of the application of each type of glue are reflected in the instructions attached to the product.

Application of glue

Adhesive 88, whose technical characteristics are quite high, can be used in engineering, shipbuilding, aviation, shoe industry, and everyday life. In construction it is used in gluing linoleum on a wooden or concrete base, repairing damaged tiles. The glue 88 is also used as a primer for deep penetration. The characteristics of this product - its versatility, reliability, ease of use - give it an advantage over other adhesives.
It is recommended to mix the adhesive well before use. If thickened, dilute it with ethyl acetate. There is a cold and hot method of bonding.
1. In the cold method, two layers of adhesive composition are applied to the pre-cleaned and non-fatty glued materials with a brush, each drying for about 15-20 minutes. After this, the surfaces should be pressed together as tightly as possible for a few minutes and left at a temperature of +18? C per day for complete setting.
2. Hot method of connection involves applying the product to the material to be glued. The adhesive layer should be dried for 20-25 minutes. Then the materials are heated to 90 ° C, combined and left alone for at least 3 hours.
Since adhesive 88 contains solvents that are easily flammable, it should be protected from fire. All work associated with it, it is necessary to perform in ventilated areas and away from open fire.

Packing and storage

Issue glue 88, prepacked in the following packaging:
• tubes of 40 ml;
• plastic bottles of 100, 200 and 400 ml;
• metal cans of 0.65 and 2.3 kg;
• barrels of 40 kg each.
The product is stored at a positive temperature of 10-25 ° C in a tightly closed container, in a special room, away from heating appliances. Do not put it in accessible places for children. Shelf life is 12 months.
