A.S. Pushkin, "Poet and the crowd": an analysis of the poem

Alexander Pushkin "Poet and the crowd" wrote in 1828. This poem caused very contradictory opinions in the society, the comments did not stop even after the author's death. In his work, Pushkin quite sharply turns to the environment, calling it niello. Most literary critics agree that Alexander Sergeevich did not mean a simple people, but nobles, striking spiritual poverty and the lack of any understanding of real creativity.

Poet "Poet and the crowd" Pushkin wrote shortly after the attempts of power to direct his pen in the right direction. Many contemporaries, who knew the writer well, argued that this work is a response to the requirements of didactic moralism, that is, Alexander Sergeyevich composed what was required of him, but it was not his thoughts and feelings. The wishes of the authorities differed significantly from the ideals of the poet himself. So far, no one has understood what Pushkin called niello.

Knowing the mood of the poet and his attitude toward the nobility, many assumed that the phrase "secular mob" refers to higher officials. On the other hand, the addiction to the "furnace pot" can hardly be attributed to rich people. There is a suggestion that Pushkin depicted the Decembrists in his poem. "Poet and the crowd" is an expression of utter disappointment with the events that took place on December 14, 1825. In the poem it is mentioned that the rabble is pacified by whips, namely, for the Decembrists, dungeons and gallows were prepared.

If you look at the poem "The Poet and the Crowd" more widely, it becomes clear that Alexander Sergeevich meant people who did not think anything in great art. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, creative individuals were treated with some disdain, they did not have a significant role in society. Stihoplets entertained the people, but their poems did not carry social significance. "The Song of the Poet" is beautiful, free, but at the same time barren as a wind. People did not understand the value of poetry, they are trying to find benefit, rational grain in everything, and not to enjoy works of art.

In turn, Pushkin feels himself a wise prophet. "Poet and the crowd" is an attempt to fence off the public, to show disdain for their principles and values. Alexander Sergeevich took a direct part in the Decembrist uprising, but after the failure of the secret conspiracy, he was disappointed in everything and rethought his mission. He does not care about a haughty people who do not understand him, but only laugh and laugh.

Pushkin has no power to reach the hearts of people, to break the public consciousness . "The poet and the crowd" is an expression of disgust for material values, because spirituality dies because of them. The author sees how the generation is degrading, everything beautiful is dying. The poor worry only about food, the rich are mired in debauchery, neither one nor the other does not care about creativity. The poet is given the role of court jester, and this Pushkin does not like. Therefore, he deliberately renounces the world in which he lives, but does not renounce his gift, because he hopes to awaken in the people light and noble feelings.
