A lethal dose of alcohol: what is it?
Currently, almost all adults use alcohol. And the love of alcohol among teenagers is also not uncommon. Someone thinks that drinking will look more mature and "cooler", someone in such a simple way seeks to ward off mental pain, to drown out loneliness, depression and fatigue.
Some people use alcoholic beverages as a medicine: for example, mulled wine, or grog (hot wine with spices, often diluted) perfectly helps with colds, red wine helps to relieve spasms and vasodilation. But alcohol is useful only in small doses.
Yes, yes, contrary to popular belief, it is possible to poison not only poor-quality vodka, but also expensive cognac. And for this purpose it is not necessary to drink a lot: a lethal dose of alcohol for a person varies from 2 (for weak people) to 7 ppm, which can be equated to 300-1050 grams of vodka or another similar drink.
However, the foregoing does not mean that a person who has drunk a liter of vodka will certainly die. In fact, his condition will depend on several factors. So, if the above-mentioned liter was not drunk immediately, but for several hours, the consequences will not be so deplorable - the liver will have time to process a part of the alcohol.
In addition to the time for which alcohol is consumed, its effect also depends on the availability of snacks, the health and age of the drinker, his personal resistance to alcohol. Of course, in the vast majority of cases, adults get drunk much more slowly than teenagers. But if the same dose is given to a drinking teenager and a man who drinks alcohol for the first time in his life, then the latter, of course, gets drunk much more.
But back to our ppm - units, which measure the lethal dose of alcohol in the blood. At once it is necessary to make a reservation, that, using промилле, it is possible to measure not only a fatal dose and not only alcohol. This is one thousandth - how many per mil, as much gram of substance per liter of blood.
With children, everything is much more difficult, because the child has not only less weight, but also less resistance than an adult. The baby's liver takes out alcohol at a lower rate, and the brain and heart are much weaker. Therefore, a lethal dose of alcohol for a child weighing about 20 kilograms can be less than 0.4 ppm, which is approximately equal to 30 grams of vodka, and an infant may die by eating the milk of a mother who has drunk alcohol.
