The beginning of the life path

Biography of Pythagoras begins in 570 (the date is approximate), in the city of Sidon (now Sayda, Lebanon). He was born into a family of a wealthy jeweler who was able to give the best education and knowledge to his son. An interesting fact is the origin of the name of the future sage. His father, Mysarkh, named his son after one of the priestesses of Apollo, Pythia. Also in honor of her, he named his wife - Pythasis. And it all happened because this priestess predicted to Myssarha that he will have a son who will surpass every other person in beauty and in his own mind.

First knowledge and teachers

The early years of the scientist, as the biography of Pythagoras tells, took place in the walls of the best temples in Greece. As a teenager, he tried to learn as much as possible by reading the work of other sages, and also talking with spiritual teachers. Among them is the Pherecydes of Syrosky, the greatest Greek cosmologist. He helps the young Pythagoras to study mathematics, physics, astronomy. In later years, the biography of Pythagoras is formed from his life experience already on foreign lands. First he goes to Egypt, where he plunges into the local mystery. Later in this country, he opens his own school, where one could learn mathematics and philosophy. During those 20 years that he spent in Egypt, he gathered a lot of student supporters, who called themselves Pythagoreans. It is also worth noting that during this period he introduces such a concept as a philosopher, and calls himself this word. The fact is that earlier all great people called themselves sages, which meant "knows". Pythagoras also introduced the term "philosopher", which was translated as "trying to find out."

After his scientific discoveries that were made in Egypt, Pythagoras travels to Babylon, where he spends 12 years. There he studies Eastern religions, their features, juxtaposes the development of science and the arts in the countries of Mesopotamia and Greece. After that, he returns to the Eastern Mediterranean, only now - on the coast of Phenicia and Syria. He spends very little time there, and after that he starts again on a journey, only more distant. Crossing the land of the Achimenides and Media, the philosopher enters Hindustan. Receiving knowledge of a completely different religion and way of life, he further expands his horizons, which gives him the opportunity to make new discoveries in science.

Biography of Pythagoras: his last years

In 530 BC. Pythagoras is in Italy, where he opens a new school called "Pythagorean Union." To learn there can only one who has behind him a sufficient amount of knowledge. At the lessons in this institution Pythagoras tells his students about the mysteries of astronomy, teaches mathematics, geometry, harmony. At the age of 60, he marries one of his pupils, and they have three children.

Approximately in 500 BC. In relation to the Pythagoreans, persecution begins. As the story goes, they were connected with the fact that the philosopher himself preferred not to take in the ranks of his pupils the son of one respected citizen. After numerous riots, he disappeared.
