Lofner Jared Lee, "arizona shooter": biography, sentence

There are a lot of killers in history. Some commit this crime, because they can not tolerate anymore, others - deliberately and with particular cruelty, and someone because of a mental disorder. The last reason led to the massacre and "Arizona arrow." Lofner Jared Lee killed 6 people with his actions. But everything has its own special prehistory, we will analyze it further.

Youth

Born Lofner Jared Lee in Tucson, Arizona. In 2006, after not finishing his studies, he dropped out of high school. Dressed as a representative of Gothic culture, and adhered to the idea of a conspiracy. In particular, he believed that the September 11 terrorist attack was arranged by the government of the United States itself. In addition, the young man had a predilection for easy drugs. But he was not too difficult a teenager - he played the saxophone, was very friendly and liked to joke. It was this that all familiar people remembered. No one could even think that he was mentally ill.

Adult years

At the age of 18, Jared was in college. Relations with his parents during these years were very strained. Often Lofner Jared Lee ran away from home. His father did not work, he sometimes worked part time, doing car repairs. Mother also sat at home - the family lived on welfare.

In 2007, the young man was detained for possession of drugs. He, a year later, after serving a small sentence, again took up criminal activities.

In those same years, Jared tried to get into the national army, but was found unfit for the results of a medical examination. It is impossible to say with certainty whether it was found out that he was mentally ill or for reasons there were other reasons. It was rumored that the use of marijuana was to blame.

Interests

His favorite politician "arizona shooter" proudly called the revolutionary Che Guevara. Besides him, he gave his preference to Barack Obama, the US president, and Hugo Chavez, the president of Venezuela. But to no political parties in his entire life, Jared did not adhere. His work was not, except for the walking of dogs. But here, too, he could not hold out long - he was kicked out for inadequate behavior.

Close remember that most of all he liked to read books. Among his favorites he singled out "A Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley and "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. Did not leave him indifferent and the "Manifesto of the Communist Party" by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, "My Struggle" by Adolf Hitler and "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. Obviously, Jared was attracted to the topic of confronting the totalitarian system, highlighted in some of them. Perhaps this influenced his worldview.

College

In 2010, Lofner had to enroll in a municipal college intended for school dropouts in Pima County. There he began to violate all the rules and regulations. Teachers unanimously declared that the "psychiatric hospital" was crying over it.

In September of the same year, the college administration found a record on YouTube, made by none other than Lofner. It was said that the college functions illegally and contradicts the basic law of the state - the Constitution. After this, the grieving disciple was temporarily expelled from the school. Now he was required to receive a medical report on mental health. He did not want to give it, and hardly could have confirmed his normality, because even then his psyche was broken.

This whole situation pushed Lofner to finally say goodbye to all educational institutions. He never again studied anywhere, because he despised the educational system.

Delusions

Lofner Jared Lee returned home to his parents. Having registered in MySpace and having opened his channel on YouTube, he started an active publication of anti-government messages. In particular, the young man was obsessed with a delusional idea that the government was brainwashing people and trying to control them through grammar. He was also against the police, saying that her employees violated the norms of the constitution.

Soon Lofner began developing his own monetary system, which was to be based on the gold standard. And in November 2010, on legal grounds, he acquired the most fateful weapon - a pistol. After passing all the checks of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, he received a license. True, his first attempt to buy ammunition was unsuccessful. The seller refused him, referring to inadequate behavior. Later he bought ammunition in another arms store.

And the shooter appeared

On January 8, 2011, the Arizona Shooter got to meet Gabriel Giffords, a congressman from Arizona. According to eyewitnesses, he drove up by taxi and, even without waiting for the change, went to the place where the meeting was held. The taxi driver was conscientious and went after him to get the money back. Because of this, he was even considered, at first, an accomplice to the shooter. Lofner, three meters from a member of Congress, shot her in the head of a 9-millimeter Glock 19. After, without resting, he began shooting at the crowd and released all 33 bullets.

As a result of his shooting, 5 people died on the spot, and another 9-year-old girl died in an ambulance from an injury. 14 people got injuries, among them was Giffords (the shooter never killed his main goal). Witnesses managed to detain the criminal before the police arrived.

Accusation and sentence

After Lofner was interviewed at the FBI, it was announced that he had refused to cooperate. He covered himself with the Fifth Amendment, allowing him to remain silent. His motivation in this matter has never been known to anyone.

Officially Lofner was charged with attempted murder of civil servants and in the assassination of federal civil servants. The lawyer was appointed to him by the state - they became Judy Clark, who once defended a terrorist from the Al Qaeda group.

During the trial, Jared Lee announced to everyone that he was innocent. However, the jury did not believe it and added a few more points to his accusation. In particular, the killing of four people who were not civil servants, and causing serious bodily harm. The fact that the shooter planned everything in advance became clear after the police found envelopes with inscriptions like "My murder", "I planned everything in advance". Experts had no doubt that both the jury and the judge would issue a single verdict, deciding to admit the guilty shooter.

In 2011, after Lofner underwent a psychiatric examination, it was announced that the defendant was in a state of some kind of mental disorder, and we can say that he is insane. This man showed his mental inadequacy in the courtroom, because of what, even before the decision was made in the appointment of compulsory treatment, he was removed from the court session.

Compulsory treatment

Lofner was diagnosed with schizophrenia. However, after some time, his therapist declared that the patient was getting better, and he began to realize what he had done and repent of the murder. For a long time, the shooter underwent compulsory treatment in a psychiatric clinic in Missouri, and on August 7, at a regular court session, confessed to the crime - the murder of six people and the wounding of fourteen. This saved him from the death penalty.

The final verdict to the "Arizona arrow" was made in 2012. He sounded rather harsh: he was found guilty and sentenced to seven life sentences, without the right to release on parole, and another 140 years - additionally.

Such absurd, at first glance, charges are often given by the courts of the United States. But only in this way it is possible to clearly demonstrate the whole gravity of the crime committed. In conclusion, the judge announced that the perpetrator will never again take up arms. These words meant that the "Arizona Shooter" would never harm anyone again.
