Zoshchenko "Elka", a short summary. Country of Childhood

Mikhail Zoshchenko is a wonderful Russian writer, a sad man and a great humorist. Strangely enough, this is the case. He wrote works for adults, which were read out when they came out of print, and stories for children. The most famous cycle is "Lelya and Minka" (there are eight short works in it), created between 1937 and 1945. He opens it at Zoshchenko's "Christmas tree". The summary will be presented below.

On the eve of the holiday

This story is a memory of what happened about thirty-five years ago, when the narrator was five years old. His first Christmas tree, when he was three years old, he does not remember. Apparently, my mother brought him to the dressed tree, and he looked at him with black eyes. But at five years old he already knew well and understood what was behind the word tree, and always eagerly awaited a joyful holiday. And even, slightly opening the door, secretly watched the actions of my mother.

Lelya was older than Minky for two years. So, she was already seven years old, and she could come up with something tempting and also forbidden, to which Minke himself would not have thought of. Lelka proposed to go into the room with the Christmas tree while mom is busy in the kitchen.

Come and see - there is a very elegant and beautiful Christmas tree. Under her lie gifts, and on the tree itself hang toys and all sorts of goodies. Mom was very angry and promised to put Lelka in a corner, and Minke did not give the engine for him prepared.
