Why the price of a generic is less than the original drug

Today, medicine is developing very quickly. There are more new drugs, methods of treatment, etc. Pharmaceutical companies are investing billions of dollars in research into new funds. But despite all the progress, there is a significant disadvantage - the prices for new products released. Since the price is high, not everyone can afford to use only brands. Here it is just worth thinking about buying generics.

What are generics? A generic is a generic drug that has been produced by another pharmaceutical company. An example of a generic can be the Kamagra 100, while the original is a drug called Viagra (Pfizer). According to their therapeutic, pharmaceutical, biological properties, generics are not inferior to the brand. The shell, the shape of the tablets, the flavoring fillings (due to the use of different inactive ingredients) can differ. However, these differences are only external and do not affect the active components, let alone the therapeutic effectiveness of the drug. In other words, a generic is called a drug that has proven therapeutic interchangeability with the original and does not differ from it in efficiency and safety, but is produced in strict accordance with the established rules and quality criteria.

Why the price of generics is less? Everything lies in the development of a medical product. Here is the original: a huge amount of money is being spent on finding a molecule (figuratively speaking) to find this very molecule, it is required to conduct a full range of clinical trials, obtain a patent for a medicine, and spend money on marketing. As for the generic, the active substance is actually taken and is released under its own name, usually it is similar to the original name. At the same time, the pharmaceutical company that produces the generic does not spend money on advertising and patent protection, and also excludes clinical trials for effectiveness. Everything that concerns safety, the generic passes.

Due to this, a drop of spanish fly can be bought in a pharmacy with a wrap-up of 3-4 times. While on the Internet the drug is much cheaper, and the effectiveness is the same. The use of such drugs has great medical and social importance. At the same time, quality treatment becomes available to the general public. For example, in the US today, more than 60% of all medicines prescribed by doctors are generics. A similar situation is observed in the countries of Western Europe. The use of generics allows these countries to use the budget allocated to health care much more effectively.
