Why is the UAZ-3741 minibus called a "loaf"?

There are cars that have become a symbol of the era. They show a unique style, peculiar only to the designers of the producing country. One of the Soviet cult cars was a minivan UAZ-3741.

The main thing that distinguishes this minivan from a number of other, including foreign analogues - is its modification and tuning potential. The body of UAZ-3741, nicknamed "a loaf" for transverse ribs, which reminded someone of sliced bread, is very durable. In addition, the car stands on wheels high, which allows you to ride off-road and just bad roads, which, unfortunately, still a lot.

And everything began in the distant 1966 already. The ancestor UAZ-3741, the 452nd model of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, was the owner of strong genes. Hereditary traits clearly dominate the appearance of his descendant. And there is something to be proud of - high survivability, reliability, powerful engine, convenient layout, a spacious cargo hold - all these qualities are too valuable to neglect. Suspension is known as ineligible, and this for the domestic car industry means a lot.

UAZ-452 became the first domestic car, the motor of which was located between the passenger and driver's seats inside the body. This arrangement has its advantages, however, it does not lack any shortcomings either: in the summer it is hot in the cabin. UAZ-3741 inherited this scheme, and almost all other constructive solutions. In 1985, after a minor modification, he was given a new model number, and he has been issued since then unchanged. There are few such long-lived cars, not only among Russian cars, but also in world history. Only except that the legendary Willys boasts such simplicity, vitality and low cost as UAZ-3741. Its price, just over four hundred thousand rubles, speaks for itself, and this is with high consumer properties, making this machine indispensable for farmers and private entrepreneurs.

The salon, like the entire car, is devoid of any excesses, which makes it possible to equip it at the request of the owner. Wheels can be placed larger diameter, they fit under the wings, and patency, and so good, will not be worse than the SUV.

Interesting and the parameters of the engine, which is under the hood of UAZ-3741. Technical characteristics indicate that the creators of this minivan in some of their decisions ahead of time. The car can not be called super economical - it spends 15-16 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers, but to say that this figure is prohibitive, no one will turn their tongue even in our time. No matter how good this machine is, it seems that it will soon be removed from production. The reason is that the degree of its security does not correspond to modern European standards, and, consequently, to the impossibility of international certification.
