What to feed rabbits?

Rabbits are one of the most common types of pets. They are mainly grown for slaughter, but there are also decorative species. As in the first, and in the second case for the maintenance of rabbits need to have some knowledge to help them properly care for them. People who want to breed rabbits should pay special attention not only to their place of content, but also to the diet, because only balanced feeding will help achieve the desired results. So, if you want to know what to feed rabbits, then this article is especially for you.

They refer to this kind of pet that likes to eat many kinds of different herbs, roots and grains. But it is here that you need to be very attentive, because among all this food variety there are a lot of harmful pets for pets. For example, beans and rhubarb can lead to serious diseases and even the death of rabbits. Also erroneous is the view that rabbits can only be fed with one granulated food. This food leads to problems associated with digestion. If you want to know what to feed a decorative rabbit, then certainly not granulated food (at least it should be in small quantities so as not to harm the animal). But hay must be present in their diet always and in any quantity. Very valuable is that of meadow grasses, because it is very rich in useful substances.

When choosing hay, you need to pay attention to its freshness, especially if it is purchased, rather than harvested independently. After all, the presence of sweetness and bad smell in it is unacceptable for feeding these animals, as it will inevitably lead to their death. Having prepared a lot of quality hay, you will never have a question about what to feed rabbits. It should be laid in pre-equipped feeders and in no case should not be thrown under the feet of animals. In summer, rabbits need to be added to their diet and fresh herbs, but after they have been ripped off, they need to be given a little attachment, because they should not have droplets of rosa. Also, no herb infested with pests is used.

Like any living creature, rabbits can not do without water, so it must be present all the time. Therefore, when breeding these animals you need to think not only about what to feed the rabbits, but also about the constant availability of drinking. It is desirable for this to equip special drinkers, from which the animal without problems can drink fresh water. If this is not possible, then you can put some capacity for this purpose. The main thing is not to forget as often as possible to change the water in it to avoid the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria. Water is important not only in the summer, when it's very hot in the street, but also in the cold period (it is recommended to warm it up if the rabbits are in unheated rooms).

As for vegetables, rabbits really like to eat them, but they need to be given carefully and little by little. Experts recommend to enter this or that vegetable alternately and with interruptions, so that you can observe the reaction of the organism of the pet. If there are no collateral, and the domestic rabbit feels well, then you can feed it with such a product without fear. Vegetables contain a huge amount of microelements useful and necessary for proper metabolism, without which the diet of rabbits will not be complete. It is best to start giving vegetables to animals that are already 11-12 weeks old. In winter, it is impossible to leave such kind of food in the cells in unheated rooms in order to avoid its freezing, as eating a frozen vegetable can lead to negative consequences.

Grain and some fruits are also very welcome in the diet of feeding rabbits. But it is desirable to give fruit in small amounts, and also to look at the reaction of the body. Rabbits like to gnaw, so it is recommended to give them for food whole heads of corn and young branches of various trees, for example plums, cherries or apple trees. As you can see from all of the above, an experienced rabbit breeder will never have a question about what to feed rabbits, since the feed is varied and does not require special expenses.
