What time does the subway close. Mode of operation of the Moscow metro. Mode of operation of the metro in St. Petersburg

"What time does the subway close?" - Probably, this question interests practically every modern person. Why?

Well, firstly, due to the fact that the metro system, as a rule, is located in megacities, on the territory of which to move using other types of public transport, is long and inconvenient. Secondly, this type of transport is considered to be one of the most inexpensive in the world, since tariffs are controlled by the state, and the threat of accidents or traffic jams, you will agree, is minimized. So it turns out that the mode of operation of metro stations in most cases is taken into account when planning a schedule for moving around the city.

We will try to consider the metro system on the example of the northern capital of the Russian Federation. We will answer some of the most pressing questions: "How much does the metro in this city close, how does it work, how was it created, and what are the characteristics of this important roadway in St. Petersburg?"

Section 1. General description of the popular transport system

The metro of the northern capital is among the world's largest subways in many respects. Every day more than two million people use the services of the subway.

Already at the beginning of the 21st century, the St. Petersburg subway comprised 4 underground routes with a length of more than 90 km, 58 stations, 65 lobbies and there were about 1380 wagons.

In addition, it should be noted that the operating mode of the Moscow metro is fully consistent with St. Petersburg: the opening and closing scheme, as well as the system of work on weekends and holidays are almost identical. Therefore, problems with its use will not arise neither in residents of both capitals, nor in the numerous travelers.

To date, the service of the rolling stock of St. Petersburg is engaged in 5 operational depots and repair. Uninterrupted work is provided by 12 thousand employees. In the subway there are more than 200 modern escalators. The operating mode of the St. Petersburg metro is perfectly coordinated: in an hour, 28 pairs of trains leave the stations.

The Petersburg subway is considered the most equipped and automated not only in Russia, but also in the former USSR countries. High-tech integrated train management system ensures the safety of transportation. It was in the metropolitan of the northern capital that an electronic payment system was first introduced, allowing the passenger flow to be recorded. Currently, work is actively being carried out on the introduction of contactless smart cards.

Each station is decorated in an individual style, the pavilions have the best works of famous sculptors from the era of construction. Many stations belong to objects of architectural and cultural significance. Information about how much the subway is closed is written on a special scoreboard at the entrance to the lobby.

Section 2. History of creation

The intention to create an underground railroad in St. Petersburg was born even in the times of the Russian Empire in the 19th century.

But at the very beginning such an idea was not supported by Emperor Alexander I. Over time, the city grew rapidly and grew, and the transport system needed improvement. The harbinger of the first metro was the project of the interurban road of the engineer Torgovanov, which assumed the connection of the Baltic and Finland stations.

All developments included only overground structures on overpasses. At the beginning of the 20th century, a successful montage of a monorail was successfully tested in Gatchina. Later, a plan was created for the Koltseva district.

His ideas on the creation of the city railway at different times put forward engineers Pechkovsky, Reshevsky, Balinsky, Girshson, Kulzhinsky, Gorchakov, Yenakiev and Graftio.

But such works required huge financial investments, which was an obstacle. And only in the 30 years there were changes, which are important in the development of underground transport.

Section 3. The People's Metro

The Petersburg subway during the navigational period in 2014 will be available at night. "What time does the metro station in your city close?" The tourists ask. "Oh, you will have time to admire our white nights!" - Answer the locals.

Night mode works from the end of April to the middle of November. Passengers can use the services of the metro from 1:00 to 3:00 hours. Trains are operated from the station "Sportivnaya" to the station "Admiralteyskaya" and back from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday.

For the holidays (Christmas, Easter, Victory Day, City Day), the metro will work around the clock. Such a schedule of traffic in the St. Petersburg metro is provided for in the days of the Night of Museums and "Scarlet Sails".

Recall that on ordinary days the St. Petersburg subway, like Moscow, starts its work at 5:40 am and ends closer to 1:00 o'clock in the morning. The schedule of work depends on the demand for the direction and station, and therefore periodically changes.

Section 4. The Modern Metro Museum

At the metro station "Primorskaya" along Odoevsky street, 29 there is the Metro Museum, where you can see the exhibitions for free. Here you can find a lot of useful information. For example, about how much the metro is closing now, how it worked before, compare, learn the ways and ways of development of the transport system of the big city.

According to preliminary requests, group visits are organized for schoolchildren, students, pensioners, etc. Individual visits are also possible.

Although it should be noted that for such excursions, it is necessary to design a special badge and an identity card. In the excursion program for groups of single visitors at will can be included inspections of tunnels, pavilions and depots, a demonstration of films about the metro of St. Petersburg. After that, you can independently inspect the driver's cab. But this is already a paid service. The museum runs from Monday to Friday.

Section 5. Incidents in the subway

In April 1974 on the site "Forest" - "Square of Courage" was found a buoyant. As a result, the tunnel was flooded. Fortunately, all the workers were saved. Because of this emergency, dips formed on the surface, and cracks appeared on the walls of the houses. Thanks to the installation of the partition near the station "Lesnaya" flooding was stopped.

Twenty-one years later, in the same section of the lower tunnel, a wall was broken by a flap, the train was closed and trains started to run along other branches. New tunnels were constructed, which are constructions of concrete rings with special seals. The first train was launched only in 8 years, in June 2004.

In June 1999, at the station "Sennaya Ploshchad" a concrete overhang of the ground vestibule collapsed. Seven people died. After this incident, the visors of other stations were dismantled or reinforced. The power outage at the substations of St. Petersburg in the summer of 2010 led to a sudden stop of the rolling stock of the subway. All the passengers had to be evacuated through tunnels.

Section 6. Interesting facts

Many believe that since the mode of operation of the Moscow metro almost completely resembles the St. Petersburg metro, then there is practically no difference in the transport systems of both cities. It is no more than a delusion.

It is worth pondering over the following information. The city metro of St. Petersburg is considered the northernmost subway in Russia and the deepest in the world. Its northern station is "Parnassus", and the western one is "Primorskaya". The depth of occurrence on average reaches 57 meters. And the station "Admiralteyskaya" has a depth of 102 meters and belongs to the deepest stations in Russia.
