What is the hydraulic shock of an engine and how to avoid it?

Unfortunately, not one motorist is insured against a hydrotest, and it does not matter what his driving experience is. And even if you are moving along the street with small puddles, you still have a risk of water impact on the car. Hydrodrive of the engine occurs more often in wet and rainy weather, when the machine, or rather - its wheels, in contact with puddles at high speed. Today we will talk about how the hydraulic shock of the engine occurs and learn the ways to prevent it.

The effects of water on the machine are sometimes unpredictable. For a car, this is actually a verdict, because after this the driver has to completely repair and even replace the engine. Of course, the person himself will not suffer from this physically, because water never enters the salon, but still do not forget about the technical part. The mistake of many drivers is the feeling of "road conqueror" in the rain: when the car is dashing on wet asphalt at high speed, a person feels himself beyond the control of nature, and his vehicle is not afraid of "neither fire nor water." And suddenly, at the moment of the next run on the puddle, the motorist notices that his iron friend is drowning, the front wheels (if this front-wheel drive model) are jammed, and the car stops abruptly in the middle of the road. It is these signs that indicate that the engine took the hydrostatic attack. Unfortunately, only after that drivers understand how much their car is vulnerable and subject to the natural elements.

Hydrodrive of the engine - consequences

In all cases, this is due to the ingress of foreign liquids (ie water) into the cylinder block. And it penetrates into the center of the engine through an air filter. As we know, water differs significantly in its properties from gasoline and oil, and therefore penetrating it into the block of cylinders is equivalent to penetration of the infection into the human body.

This "foreign body", getting into the cylinders, significantly increases the level of pressure in the ICE, thereby causing the inevitable serious engine damage. The damaging effect of water is primarily on the crankshaft, then the connecting rods, which in most cases simply bend, and eventually break the piston fingers. The engine after the hammer is completely unsuitable for operation. It is such a huge damage to the car, it would seem, ordinary water.

How to prevent the hydrostatic engine?

The terrible consequences of this phenomenon, as we have already seen, are quite serious, so in order to avoid long and expensive repairs, it is better to read a couple of simple tips that will save your iron friend from breakage. The main rule - never run into a puddle at high speeds. It is better to move slowly, at high speeds and preferably in the first gear. Ideally, of course, in rainy weather, do not go to the track at all, but if there is a strong need, you should always remember that the car is not an amphibian, and she does not like water obstacles. In addition, water can break and wiring.
