What data does it contain?

The certificate of registration (technical passport, or STS) is a laminated document that contains all the basic data on the car. Simply speaking, answering the question about what a STS is for a car, it can be noted that this is a certain identity for the vehicle. In it you can find the following data:

• Car model;

• Brand;

• Colour;

• category of vehicle;

• the type of vehicle;

• engine power;

• VIN - number (vehicle identification number);

• year of issue;

• Body number and type (estate, sedan, etc.);

• public car numbers.

Also on the front side of the document in question are data on the permitted weight for the car with / without load, engine power (usually in horsepower).

The second party contains information about the owner, namely: the address where the owner is registered, his full name. Information about modifications of the car is also located on the reverse side of the certificate of registration. If you change any information of the car owner (surname, name, patronymic or registration address), as well as when the vehicle structure is changed, it is necessary to update the technical passport. Since this document should contain only relevant information about the car and its owner.

How to get a technical passport

What is STS on the machines, figured out, but how and where to get them? Such a document is issued when registering a vehicle in the traffic police departments. The technical passport for the car is subject to replacement in the following cases:

1. When buying a car. The procedure for registration and subsequent issuance of a certificate of registration of the vehicle is made both with the purchase of a new vehicle in the cabin and with the purchase of second-hand vehicles. The difference between these operations will only be that in the second case, the current technical passport (in the name of the previous owner) must be included in the package of documents required for obtaining the STS.

2. In case of change of the registration data of the owner of the car. If the owner of the car has changed the surname, name or patronymic, then this is also an excuse to apply to MREO and replace STS. At the same time, you will need to have a document confirming the change of data (for example, if the replacement of the document is connected with the change of the surname by marriage, then you need to take with you the certificate of marriage registration). Also, if the address of the residence permit is changed, information about this should be provided to the traffic police department.

3. Modification of the car. Change the appearance of the vehicle should also be registered at the office. With you in this case, you need to capture a certificate stating that the changes made do not interfere with operational safety.

4. Loss / theft of the current registration certificate. For recovery, you should also contact MREO, presenting the required package of documents.

What should I look for when buying a vehicle in the showroom?

If the car is purchased in a specialized salon or an authorized distributor, you should make sure that the manager at the conclusion of the transaction issued the following documents:

• agreement confirming the transaction;

• Passport of the Customs Union (this document can be received by the salon from the customs service or from the manufacturer);

• certificate confirming payment by the buyer;

• operation manual, service book;

• OSAGO (this document can sometimes be issued directly in the cabin, where the car is purchased);

• The keys to the vehicle.

Registration of the vehicle in the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate: documents

When registering a machine, it is necessary to submit:

• Identity card (passport of a Russian citizen).

• An application for the replacement of a technical passport (you can fill in the application in advance by downloading the form on the official GIBDD resource or on a personal visit to the department of this office, the format for filling out the application is determined by the car owner - the document can be filled manually or using electronic devices).

• Vehicle's passport, a document containing detailed information about the car and its owners (original, if only a duplicate is present, then submit it).

• The current technical passport (this is relevant in the event that a new STS is required due to a change in the name, address of the propiska, the owner of the car).

• Compulsory insurance policy (OSAGO).

• A document confirming the ownership of the vehicle (for the current owner such a document is the vehicle's passport, and as a confirmation of the right of possession of the vehicle, a sales contract or a gift contract may be used).

• A document confirming the payment of the fee (its value is five hundred rubles).

How does the process go?

In order for the vehicle to be registered with the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, documents can be submitted to any MRE department. After checking the condition of the vehicle for the existence of a ban on registration actions, finding a car in stealing, etc., the authenticity of the documents submitted to the owner will be issued a new vehicle certificate - STS). If there are restrictions on the performance of registration actions, it will not be easy to get a new document. We will first have to find out what causes the imposition of such restrictions. Only after the cause has been eliminated it will be possible to apply again to the MREO with the documents for obtaining a new technical passport. It is important to remember that if issuing a certificate of registration of the vehicle is connected with the purchase of new or used vehicles, then you should visit the traffic police department within ten days. To use the car without having the STS, it is possible only during this period.

What threatens the car owner for using the vehicle without a technical passport?

The owner of the vehicle is threatened with:

• at the discretion of the inspector of the patrol service: a warning or a fine of five hundred rubles;

• the penalty for driving a car without a vehicle certificate (the amount of such a fine can be from five hundred to eight hundred rubles), with a secondary violation of this kind, the amount of punishment will be five thousand rubles (the maximum penalty for such violation is the deprivation of the car owner's rights to drive up to three months ).

How to restore the STS to the car with loss?

The process is similar to the registration. If the owner was faced with the question of how to restore the STS to the car due to the loss of the previous document, he must apply to the MREO with all available documents. Also, you should drive the car to the STSI parking lot as confirmation that the vehicle is in stock.

Acquisition of a vehicle without CTC

Announcements on the sale of cars without a certificate of registration can easily be found on the relevant portals on the Internet. Is it possible to trust such sellers or is it worth to avoid such offers having a very attractive value? To answer this question, it is necessary to understand why the machine without the STS can be. To them it is possible to carry:

1. The seller is not the owner of the car, that is, most likely, such a vehicle is in hijacking.

2. There was a loss of STS on the car. Theoretically, such an option is possible. However, verifying the seller's words and verifying their veracity will be quite difficult. In this case, you can try to agree with him about the preliminary replacement of the STS.

3. The vehicle is not used for a long time. This may indicate that the car is not paid annual taxes. And this means that it is most likely that it will not be possible to just re-register it for yourself.

Conclusion

What is STS on machines? This is a certificate of registration of the vehicle, which are one of the most important documents on the car. Use the vehicle, if there is no technical passport for the car, it is possible only within ten days after its acquisition. Otherwise, the owner is threatened with fines and even deprivation of control. In this regard, you should always have it on hand.
