What factors affect the consumption of gasoline?

The consumption of gasoline is the amount of fuel consumed by the car. This characteristic of the motor of the car is currently one of the most important. And now for decades the leading engineers of the planet have solved the problem of reducing the consumption of gasoline.

The consumption of gasoline can be measured by calculating the amount of fuel that the machine spends when passing a certain distance. Now in countries where the metric system of measures is applied , the consumption is measured in liters for every hundred kilometers. The smaller the value, the more economical the car.

The consumption of gasoline can also be calculated in another way - the distance is measured, when the vehicle passes through it, a certain amount of fuel will be completely consumed. This method, as a rule, is used in countries where the English measuring system is used.

In South Korea, Japan and India, the economy is measured in kilometer per liter. At the same time, the higher the value, the more economical the car.

For more accurate calculations engineers have identified several special cycles:

1. Urban cycle, characterized by high traffic, the need for overheating, the motor during stoppage in traffic jams and traffic lights, as well as a sudden drop and set speed. As a result of this work, a large consumption of gasoline is observed.

2. Suburban cycle, characterized by a smoother course and more stable speed. At the same time, a decrease in the consumption of gasoline is observed.

3. The mixed cycle is something average.

The consumption of gasoline is affected by a large number of factors. The main reasons for the increase in consumption are: malfunctions of the engine or its systems, acceleration of the car, incomplete combustion of gasoline, "aggressive" driving style, increased resistance to movement (load of the car, open windows, jammed brakes, transmission faults).

The good condition of the car, the choice of the most optimal driving mode, the driver's experience is the guarantee of optimal fuel use.

Fuel consumption is also affected by other less important factors: aerodynamics, curb weight, gear ratios.

Rates of consumption

All transport companies set their maximum permissible levels of fuel consumption when using vehicles. There are basic and calculated and regulatory levels of consumption. The base is determined by the standard scheme and sets the fuel consumption rate under normal conditions. Settlement and regulatory establishes certain operating conditions, as well as some other factors.

The rates of gasoline consumption may increase when:

- work in the cold season in the northern and southern regions of Russia, as well as in the Far North;

- when working on highways with a complex plan;

- when riding in a mountainous area;

- when transporting dangerous or bulky goods;

- with the training ride;

- when the air conditioner is operating;

- When driving in the city (depending on how dense the flow);

- when working in difficult conditions (floods, snow, ice);

- when driving a new car or a car after a major overhaul.

The consumption of gasoline is one of the most important characteristics of the engine of each car. It is over its improvement that work is being done in many countries of the world.
