A strange bird is a cuckoo. Rinsing of the nose
Any catarrhal disease, accompanied by difficulty in nasal breathing, is always hard to tolerate. After all, to the elevated temperature and other symptoms are added feelings of perspiration in the throat, headache and general discomfort, explained by the need to breathe through the mouth. Most often resort to the usual treatment with the help of tablets. But what if it is ineffective, and the disease smoothly flows into the sinusitis, threatening to change into an incurable chronic form? In this case, there are several possible solutions:
- To pass a course of reception of antibiotics (including nyxes). The medicine is carried by the bloodstream throughout the body, including the nasal sinuses;
- directly affect the bacteria localized in the nose by instillation and heating. Here you can include many folk ways, for example, laying in the nasal passages impregnated with onion and honey cotton wool;
- perform a nose wash by moving the "cuckoo".
If with the first two ways of questions, usually does not arise, then even the expression "moving the cuckoo" to many is completely unknown.
This method was proposed by the American physician V. Proetz. Its meaning is to wash the nasal sinuses with a medical solution. Since the nasal passages of both nostrils are interrelated with the general system, it allows one to pour the medicine into one, and remove it from the other. Compared with simple instillation, the efficiency is several times higher due to more careful treatment of the focus of infection by drugs, as well as the removal of pus and germs from the body. As a result, the inflammation decreases and nasal breathing resumes, the mucosa is normalized.
The second name of the method is "cuckoo". Rinsing the nose has such a funny name for the simple reason that when you perform it, it is recommended that the patient make "ku-ku" sounds. Interesting fact: it does not really matter what to say. Many adults manage not to make sounds after several sessions, having learned to breathe properly. Speech is needed to ensure that the strained partitions do not allow the liquid to enter the larynx. A person can consciously control them, and not use a reflex mechanism. Of course, it's easier for children to say "ku-ku".
To answer the question "how to do a nose wash", first of all, you need to familiarize yourself with the general rules. Knowing them, you can properly perform the procedure even at home.
So, the doctor appointed the procedure "cuckoo". Washing of the nose in this case is carried out in a medical institution. The patient is lying on the couch, and the head leans back a little. In one nostril a therapeutic solution is slowly supplied, and the other is sucked off with a vacuum device. In the process, you can just breathe properly without swallowing the drug, or follow the recommendations, justifying the name "cuckoo". Rinsing the nose in time takes no more than five minutes. The patient does not have any painful sensations.
The total number of visits to the cabinet should not exceed 10 times. In winter it is allowed to go out into the open air not earlier than 2 hours later, and in the summer after 30-40 minutes. Without observing this condition, it is possible to supercool the nasal sinuses with the remnants of the drug. Contraindications are nosebleeds and epileptic seizures.
What to do if there is no "cuckoo" in the hospital? Rinsing the nose can be done at home. To do this, you need to buy a special irrigator in the pharmacy. It is a plastic bottle with a lid-spout. Having prepared a warm medical preparation, tilt the head above the washbasin, the nozzle of the bottle is densely placed in the nostril and the nasal passages are slowly washed. In this case, the solution flows out of the other nostril. The intensity is adjusted by pressing on the vial.
