Installing Windows 7 from a USB flash drive: an algorithm of actions

The procedure for installing the OS from a USB flash drive is described in many articles, blogs and instructions, so the user will not have any difficulty in choosing the necessary algorithm for this procedure. There are also "firm" instructions of these actions. Nevertheless, I want to draw attention to the fact that practically all of these recommendations do not contain, perhaps, the most banal and, at the same time, very important observation. If you miss it, all the work of installing the operating system can lead to unpredictable consequences.

Dear users, installing Windows 7 from a USB flash drive or installing any other software resources should always start with checking the removable media for viruses, and the check must be done deep, possibly several times. The reason for such thoroughness is that today there are viruses that do not externally appear during the installation operations, but "get" into the core of the system, and then it will be very difficult to get rid of them.

The installation process itself is not complicated at all. This option should be consulted if you do not have an installation disc or there is no drive. There are also advantages in this solution - installing Windows 7 from a USB flash drive, like any other program, always goes a little faster than from a disk.

To install, you need, in fact, only two things - the image of the operating system that is written to your media, and the media itself. Please note, the size of the operating system is such that the USB Flash-disk must be a capacity of at least 4 GB. The OS image should be written in ISO or mds formats, these are quite common formats that are supported by most programs and devices.

The very installation of Windows 7 from a USB flash drive involves performing a few simple manipulations.

1. Insert your Flash media into the USB port on your computer.

2. Enter the "Start" menu and enter the cmd command in the "Run" search box.

3. Right-click the option to run as administrator, and in the following console window, select DISKPART. Then press ENTER.

4. In the appeared DISKPART program menu, press the LIST DISK drive, find the name of your Flash-drive in the list and remember its number.

Then enter the following commands:

- SELECT DISK (enter the number of your drive that you remembered after the command name);

- CLEAN - starts cleaning the disk;

- CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY - creates a partition for installing the OS;

- SELECT PARTITION - select this section;

- ACTIVE - give the disk the status of active;

- FORMAT FS = NTFS QUICK - format the drive in the NTFS system;

- ASSIGN LETTER = W - connect your drive to the system;

- EXIT - exits the program to prepare for the installation of the system.

5. In the event that you have a disk with the recorded Windows 7, just copy all the files to the flash media. If you only have an operating system image, you need to create and install a virtual drive using the programs Alcohol, ISO, Daemon TOOL or others. When the virtual disk is created, download the operating system image you have on it and run "Install", consistently agreeing to the terms of installation and use of the product you are offering. Now installing Windows 7 from a USB flash drive will happen almost automatically. Only for this purpose it is necessary to create conditions of loading from a flash-media. To do this, go to the BOOT menu in the running DISKPART console. Just make a note in the console of the disc number and save it. Then enter the command BOOTSECT.EXE / NT60 W.

Restart the computer, and during the reboot, select the option: boot from usb-disk. Then, after installing Windows 7, you created a virtual disk and changing the boot order can be canceled, although a virtual disk can come in handy in the current work. At the work of the system, it is not reflected in any way.

After completing all operations, check the video adapter for Windows 7. If necessary, update the driver. This, in fact, applies to all modules of your computer.
