The Izh-94 family of rifles has been produced since the mid-1990s and is a well-made combined weapon based on the well-proven Izh-27 model. Thanks to the replacement blocks, the hunter can customize the weapon for almost any kind of hunting. One of the barrels is designed for firing shot-shot (20 or 12 caliber), the second trunk of threaded - for cartridges of various calibers.

The device, the principle of operation Izh-94

The gun consists of a box with a butt and a barrel detachable block with an forearm. In the receiver, the trunks are locked by means of a locking bar. The locking assembly is controlled by a lock lever located at the top of the box. The trunks are located in the vertical block in the vertical plane: threaded below, smooth above. This weapon for hunting can have three design versions of the barrel unit:

• The trunks are connected by breech and muzzle clutches, are equipped with the STP reduction mechanism (the abbreviation stands for the middle point of impact) of the trunks, the sighting device is the fly with the whole.
• The trunks are connected by breech and muzzle couplings, the STP mechanism of the trunks is absent, there is a ventilated sighting bar.
• The trunks are connected by a coupling and inter-barrels, the STP mechanism of the trunks is absent.

The adjusting rod in the STP reduction mechanism (mid-point of hit) was selected according to the diameter at the manufacturing plant when the rifle was aligned so as to combine the STP of the trunks. When connecting the trunks with couplers without interlock bars, the lower barrel in the muzzle is fitted with a guaranteed clearance - this prevents the STF from shifting due to uneven heating with intensive firing from one of them.

Markings used on weapons

The length of the chamber of the smooth barrel, the permissible maximum pressure, the designation and size of the muzzle constriction, the calibres of both trunks are marked on the breech block of the barrel unit.

Izh-94 guns, manufactured with a seat providing replaceable muzzle tapers, should be marked Var on the breech barrel, and the nominal value and the denotation of the constriction are indicated on the muzzle sweeping taper.

Aiming device

Sights - adjustable. The target is adjusted horizontally and fixed with a screw. The fly is adjusted vertically and fixed by a spring-loaded bellow. The landing place for fixing the bracket of the optical sight has a "dovetail" scheme and is located on the crest of the coupling.

Shock mechanism

Izh-94 - a gun with two hammers. Combat springs are screwed cylindrical. The pushers, the hinge and the operators squeeze the fighting spring and cock the hammers when opening the trunks. The cartridge ejection is carried out by the ejector from the chamber when the barrels are opened. The impact mechanism - trigger, return hammers ("off-hook") are structurally separate from the strikers.

The trigger can be manufactured in two design versions:

• With a direct sequence of shooting, typical for double-barreled guns, when the front trigger triggers a shot from the rifled lower trunk, respectively, the rear trigger - from the upper (smooth) trunk.
• With the reverse sequence of shooting.

The sequence of operation of the trigger mechanism is indicated in the certificate of acceptance of the Izh-94.

Characteristics of the trigger mechanism provides for the possibility of a smooth trigger release. For this, with open barrels, the fuse button is required to be moved to the front position by pressing both hammers and smoothly closing the trunks. To prevent an accidental shot, you must remove the cartridges from the chamber before performing this procedure!

Fuse

The fuse located at the top of the box is automatic, it turns on every time the lock lever is turned. Turning off the fuse is done by moving the button forward. When you turn on the fuse by moving the button back, the whisper will not be locked when the triggered trigger is released. When the barrels are opened (the next cocking of the trigger), the fuses automatically lock the sear. USM has additional safety devices (interceptors of hammers), preventing descent upon impact, accidental drops of a gun, etc.

Nuances of shooting

Accuracy and accuracy of firing from the lower rifled barrel can be considered satisfactory when the size of the diameter of the scattering of 4 shots when firing from a hundred meters is less than 120 mm, with the average point of impact deviating from the aiming point by less than 75 mm. When firing cartridges that differ in characteristics from those used for control pre-sale shooting at the enterprise, accuracy and accuracy of shooting can vary significantly.

Modifications IZ-94 with a chamber of 76 mm are used with any of the cartridges having a sleeve up to 76 mm long, the marking "For weapons tested at 1370 bar" and "Max.1050 bar". Modifications with a chamber of 70 mm are used with any cartridges having a sleeve up to 70 mm in length. In this case, by the length of the cartridge case is meant not the length of the cartridge, but the length of the sleeve before the twist!

Additional adjustment

In the case of the use of cartridges that are different from those used in the control shooting at the enterprise, an additional gunfire may be necessary. To move the STF horizontally to the right, it is necessary to shift the bar to the right, to shift the STP to the left, it is necessary to shift the bar to the left. After the adjustment is complete, tighten the screw securing the sight. To shift the STF vertically upwards, it is necessary to screw in the fly, and, conversely, to move the STP downwards, it is necessary to turn it off. The fly should be rotated until it is fixed with a clamp. It is not recommended to perform any manipulations with the STP reporting mechanism (if any).

Incomplete disassembly for maintenance

Before disassembling it is recommended to launch the trigger.

1. Then it is necessary to pull the lever to the forearm, located in the center of the bottom.
2. While holding the lever, turn the front end of the forearm to the trunk and separate the forearm. Do not apply excessive force!
3. Turn the lock lever located at the top of the box to the far right.
4. Turn the barrels down until they are separated from the box.

For transportation and storage it is necessary:

1. Attach the forearm to the trunks.
2. Press the delay of the locking bar from above, placed in the groove of the box, after which the lock lever will return to the center position.

"Taiga"

Izh-94 "Taiga" model is based on the well-proven Izh-27 gun and differs from its predecessor with reinforced forehead pads under the rifled shot. The gun is very reliable, well made. The rifled lower trunk is capable of firing cartridges of the central battle of all common calibers (5,6x50R, 7x65R, 9,3x74R and others).

It can be equipped with detachable blocks of various layouts, including two smooth trunks - this is an important feature of the Izh-94 "Taiga" model. "North"

Izh-94 "North" gun was developed in 1992. From other modifications differs in the principle of the arrangement of trunks. Designers decided to change the trunks in places: the rifled is located on top, has a caliber of 5.6 mm. Smooth, respectively, from below: its caliber is the 20th. Horizontally coupled trunks detachable. Only the lower - chrome trunk - is chrome plated from the inside. The length of the trunks is standard for the entire model range - 600 mm.

IZH-94R

The modification is equipped with a smooth bottom trunk for ammunition 12/70 or 12/76 mm, and a rifled upper for various calibres (223 Rem (5,6x45), 222Rem (5,6x43), 7,62x51 (308Win., Etc.). "Express"

Adjustment mechanism

The rifled barrels in the barrel block are located in a vertical plane, connected by couplings, while the lower barrel is installed in the muzzle with a clearance. This design allows you to prevent the displacement of the middle points of impact due to their uneven heating during firing.
