We are going to rest ... Do you need a passport in the Crimea?

The Crimean peninsula is not associated with foreign countries. However, we must admit that he is part of a foreign power. Therefore, crossing the Mikhailovsky Farm on the train or the Kerch Strait by ferry, as well as another checkpoint on the borders of Ukraine with the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus, you should remember: you leave the country of your citizenship and enter another sovereign state. Consequently, on your way, border guards will inevitably meet. In this case, do I need a passport to the Crimea?

As early as 1992, Ukraine signed bilateral agreements with Belarus in 1997 and with Russia, according to which citizens of these three states can visit these countries without visas and even a foreign passport and live there for 90 days. Therefore, do not believe the idle speculations of well-wishers that ostensibly in the Crimea you need a passport. If you do not have it, you can safely go to the sunny peninsula with the usual internal document.

However, it's still a different country, and border guards (both Russian and Ukrainian) are very picky people. This at home you can live with an expired passport. Read carefully the last page of your "internal document confirming citizenship." It says that in Russia a passport is changed when its owner turns 20 and 45 years old. If you are not concerned about the timely replacement of a book with a purple cover, you face at least a penalty, and as a maximum - removal from the train. Therefore, if you have an expired internal document, but there is an external one, to the question "Do I need a passport to the Crimea?" We answer: "Yes!". So there are options.

Where will the border guards put their stamps? Well, Russian cordon guards will not stamp you. But at the entrance to Ukraine the conductor of the train, the stewardess of the aircraft or at the checkpoint the junior rank of the border service will give you a migration card form. It consists of two identical halves. They need to be carefully filled. There will not be any questions with the order, everything is very standard: name, place and date of birth, etc. One of the half of the form the frontier guard detaches and leaves at home, and the second gives you. This unpresentable scrap of paper should be kept as the apple of the eye. For his loss you face a rather big fine. It is possible and so to answer the question of whether a passport is needed in the Crimea: no, because it is replaced (for the period of stay in the country) by a migration card.

Now let us consider the problem of the transportation of underage citizens of the Russian Federation. There are difficulties here. A child who has not reached the age of two can leave only accompanied by his parents (if one of them, then the consent of the other must be certified by the notary). From 3 to 14 the child can leave with third parties (grandmother / grandfather, children's group leader). When leaving the Russian Federation, as well as when entering Ukraine, you must present the original of the birth certificate with an insert confirming Russian citizenship. From the age of 14 the child gets the right to travel independently (with the consent of the parents). Do I need a passport to a young tourist in the Crimea? No. Only the same birth certificate with a liner.

This year, as if a black cat was running between the Kremlin and the government of Ukraine. That sweets "Evening Kiev" were harmful, then eggs, then bacon ... Did Ukraine respond to these attacks of the chief doctor of Russia with its sanctions? Maybe it's been a happy time, and need a passport to the Crimea? 2013, however, did not correct the existing agreements on visa-free travel.
