Waters Roger: the story of one of the founders of Pink Floyd

Waters Roger is known as one of the leaders and founders of the "Pink Floyd" group. For a very long time this musician was the author of most of the texts and music, and also put forward the most significant ideas for the promotion of the collective.

Childhood and youth

Roger Waters was born in England in September 1943. All his childhood he spent in Cambridge, along with his brother and mother. Father was not, he died when the boy was 5 months old, on one of the fronts of World War II. Since Roger could not podnakopit a lot of memories of the Pope, he had to endure the bitterness of loss through all his creative achievements.

The musician's youth wore the banner of political struggle, because his mother was a fierce Communist, and the guy himself believed that nuclear disarmament was the true way of the state.

At school, Roger was fortunate enough to meet David Gilmore and Sid Barrett. After the guy went to study at the Polytechnic Institute, the guys also pulled into London. And all together began to actively engage in music.

"Pink Floyd"

In 1965 the collective was founded, the name of which is loudly sounded till now. The group "Pink Floyd" originally included 4 people: Waters Roger, Sid Barrett, Nick Mason and Richard Wright.

Three years later, the band left Syd Barrett because of mental problems, so David Gilmour was invited to take his place. By the end of the seventies, the relationship between the new guitarist and Waters had deteriorated significantly. At the same time, the founder of the band began to influence the group more and more, which influenced the creation of the album "The Wall".

The relationship between Gilmour and Waters so deteriorated that even their joint album "The Final Cut", which saw the world in 1983, was listed as Roger's album, played by the collective "Pink Floyd".

Two years later the collective disintegrated. Roger Waters, whose discography consists not only of the band's music, but also of solo albums, tried to defend the rights to use the name "Pink Floyd" in court. As an argument, he used the fact that initially, the composition of the team, except for him, included Richard Wright, Nick Mason and Sid Barrett, and Gilmora was not close. Waters Roger claimed that after the departure of one of the founders of the collective, he wrote the majority of the lyrics, but as a result he lost the lawsuit. The rights to most of the songs and the name "Pink Floyd" went to David Gilmour, who, together with Wright and Mason, resumed creative work. With Roger were only his compositions and the album "The Wall".

Despite the breakdown of the classical composition, the group continued to exist. Only in 20 years all the musicians came together and performed at the concert "Live 8", playing four old songs.

Solo career

This part of the creative life of Waters was not as successful as the career of the renowned band, but despite this, a dozen albums were recorded and a lot of performances were performed since 1970. Also, a British musician created a rock opera and a lot of soundtracks for cult films.

Waters Roger has an exquisite and elegant style of playing the bass guitar. His bright riffs immediately sit in the head and do not leave it. Personal preferences were embodied by the musician in the nominal instrument "Roger Waters Precision Bass". This is a bass guitar with four strings and a pickup made by the company "Fender".
