Wart in pregnancy: the causes and characteristics of treatment

Women waiting for a child should be especially attentive to their health. A lot of troubles can be brought even by a seemingly ordinary wart during pregnancy. Is it dangerous and how to get rid of it - described in this article.

What is a wart?

Warts are benign neoplasms. They are caused by HPV - human papillomavirus. Almost every person has warts. Neoplasms can easily be transmitted through objects or by direct contact. Sometimes the wart does not make itself felt for a long period.

A woman can have a neoplasm (and not know about it) before pregnancy. And during this period, hormonal changes in the body begin, immunity decreases. This all stimulates the manifestation of a latent wart during pregnancy.

Types of warts

Neoplasms often appear on the limbs, face and mucous membranes. Warts are divided into several types:

  1. Ordinary papillomas appear in the form of rounded nodules measuring from one to ten millimeters. Warts protrude slightly above the skin. The color of the papilloma can be brown, pink or corpulent. Papillomas dense, with a rough surface. Most of the warts appear on the face.
  2. Flat papillomas do not grow more than three millimeters. Such neoplasms over the skin are insignificant. Most often, warts appear on the face and back of the hands. Neoplasms can be brown, yellow or skin color. Flat warts appear as a whole group.
  3. Plantar warts during pregnancy are more worrisome than others. Such papillomas are initially very painful, and when a woman is waiting for a child, discomfort also increases. Soreness is due to constant friction. Plantar warts are yellowish, dense, similar to dry corn. If the papillomas cause severe discomfort, they are removed.
  4. Pointed condylomas appear on the genitals, in the folds. First they represent small pink bubbles, then they become pointed and grow to a whole bunch.
  5. Filiform papillomas are elongated, attached to the skin on a small foot. Can grow to a length of up to three centimeters. Most often appear on the eyelids, in the armpits, on the genitals and neck. Such a wart during pregnancy is more common than other species.

Causes of the appearance of warts

The main reason for the appearance of warts during pregnancy is the virus in the body. Infection occurs due to the weakening of the immune system and hormonal adjustment that occurs during the period when a woman is waiting for a child. At this time, the dermal formation greatly proliferates.

Warts are caused by the appearance of the virus in the body of the papilloma. It has several varieties. Most often, warts are simple and appear on the body. It is worse if neoplasm occurs on the genitals. This can create problems in bearing the fetus.

What are the most dangerous warts during pregnancy?

By itself, a wart during pregnancy does not pose a threat to the mother and the future baby. But self-medication in people's ways can do much harm. If the warts do not cause pain and do not expand - they should not be touched before the birth of the baby. Treatment requires only genital warts that appear on the genitals.

Some neoplasms can grow so that they create an obstacle for the birth of a child. When he leaves his mother's womb, warts that appear on the birth canal are torn and burst. As a result, severe bleeding begins, and the baby can catch the virus.

Warts can appear a couple of days after birth, or in the first months of life. Dangerous are the neoplasms that arise in the larynx. As a result, the baby's breathing is very difficult. When detecting spiky warts, a caesarean section is made for pregnant women.

When is it necessary to remove warts?

Can I remove warts during pregnancy? This is not necessary. Often there is a reverse process of manifestation of the virus. After the birth of a child, warts on the mother's body can disappear on their own in a short period of time.

During pregnancy, doctors do not advise removing neoplasms, especially in the first and third trimester. It can even provoke premature birth. But in itself removal of warts is performed surgically with anesthesia and immunostimulating means, and this is not acceptable when carrying a child.

But nevertheless there are some reasons on which can be removed neoplasms during pregnancy. The operation can be done if the warts have changed their color or shape or there is a threat of serious papillomas proliferation. Also, neoplasms can be removed if they cause pain.

Contraindications for the removal of warts

The decision on the possibility of carrying out the procedure for getting rid of papillomas is taken by an obstetrician. Removal of warts during pregnancy is prohibited during pregnancy until two weeks and after the 30th. For self-disposal of papillomas, you can not use celandine juice. Warts are not removed with liquid nitrogen and with the use of anesthesia.

What to do if a wart is found?

If there are warts during pregnancy, you can not tear them off yourself. This can lead to further spread of the virus, and as a result, new papillomas will appear. And even if you pull off the wart, it does not mean to get rid of it. Papillomas have very long roots that extend deep into the dermis.

If neoplasms are detected, it is necessary to urgently consult a therapist or dermatologist. They will determine whether a malignant tumor has appeared, and what treatment will be required, taking into account individual characteristics of the organism and pregnancy.

Wart removal methods

There are several ways to remove warts. Laser therapy is one of the most popular procedures. The level of penetration of the rays is selected individually. The laser goes to the intended point and cauterizes it. The wart dies and falls off on its own. After the procedure, at first there remains a small wound, which then passes without a trace.

Warts are removed by electrocoagulation. This is a safe and effective procedure. The method helps to get rid of even small warts growing on the stalk. To remove tumors, only one session is required, the duration of which does not exceed ten minutes. The permeability of current is strictly controlled, there is no age limit for the method.

Radio wave treatment of warts lasts 20 minutes. The procedure is painless and does not pose a health hazard. During the session, high-frequency waves are used, dissecting the tissues like a knife. The wart just gradually evaporates. Then there remains a small speck that disappears on its own in a short time.

Cryotherapy is a method using liquid nitrogen, its temperature is minus 400 degrees. When the substance gets on the wart, it instantly freezes, the cells die and the tumor falls off after a week (or 10 days maximum) after the procedure.

Can I remove warts during pregnancy? If there is no serious reason for this, the neoplasm is left until the child appears. All of the above methods include contraindications to pregnancy and lactation. But still if you need to remove the warts, then this is done only with the help of electrocoagulation or laser therapy.

Folk Ways to Treat Warts

If the wart during pregnancy severely interferes, it can be removed by folk methods. For example, for six days, apply a compress to the neoplasm from the potato peeled with skin. Juice celandine helps to cope with warts. They are lubricated with new growth before they disappear completely.

One of the effective means in the fight against warts is aloe. Neoplasm is severely vaporized and the flesh of the plant is applied to it. Then a gauze bandage is applied on top. The compress should be done in the evening and left until the morning. The treatment takes a course of ten days.

You can use ordinary hydrogen peroxide. She smears a wart within a week. Before using any of the folk methods, it is necessary to test the skin for allergic reactions to the components of therapy. In addition, before using any of the listed methods (including folk) removal of warts pregnant should consult with an obstetrician.
